A dermabrasion procedure refinishes the skin's top layers through a method of controlled surgical scraping. The treatment soften the sharp edges of surface irregularities, giving the skin a smoother appearance. During the procedure the outer layers of skin are removed, resulting in new, smoother skin after a brief period of healing. It may be performed on the entire face or only to specific problem areas.
