Dysport Description & Benefits

Dysport is a filler injection used to temporarily improve the look of moderate to severe frown lines between the eyebrows (glabellar lines) and forehead wrinkles in adults less than 65 years of age. Dysport is a purified formulation that has been shown to deliver temporary improvements in moderate to severe frown lines, even with repeat treatments. Dysport is an injectable form of botulinum toxin Type A, which is also found in the Botox injectable filler.

Dysport Procedure Steps

With just one injection of Dysport into each of five points between and above the eyebrows, Dysport stops the signal from the nerve to the muscles, ultimately resulting in a reduction of muscle activity and temporarily preventing contraction of the muscles that cause frown lines. The untreated facial muscles still contract normally, allowing you to freely show facial expressions, such as smiling, in untreated areas.

Dysport Recovery

After the Dysport treatment you will need little or no recovery time. You can resume your normal activities immediately, but your doctor may advise you to stay out of the sun. You should not rub or massage the treated area for at least twelve hours after your injections. Your doctor will also instruct you to avoid bending or lying down for three to four hours after your Dysport treatment, to keep the toxin from moving to other facial areas and allow it to make a solid connection to the muscle. Any discomfort, bruising or swelling can be treated with mild over-the-counter painkillers such as ibuprofen. Do not use aspirin as this may make the bruising worse. Avoid strenuous exercise, sun exposure and drinking alcohol for the first two weeks after your injections. You may need to return to the doctor’s office in two to three weeks so that the results can be checked and topped up with more Dysport if necessary.
