You may experience some minimal discomfort from the needle injection. Depending on the area treated, massaging may be used to smooth out the filler before it firms up. Immediately after the injections, you may experience some swelling and bruising which typically subsides within 48 hours. The treated area may appear red for the first 24 hours and may last up to a week. It is safe to cover the treated areas with make-up if you wish. Avoid strenuous exercise, sun and drinking alcohol during this time. You may need to return to the doctor’s office in two to three weeks so that the results can be checked and topped up with more fillers if necessary. You can resume your normal activities immediately; however, you are advised to stay out of the sun. Ensure you use a total sun block if your skin must be unavoidably exposed to the sun. Sudden, severe pain or any symptoms that are progressive or seem unusual should be reported to the doctor immediately.
