are the stiches used to tighten stomach muscles permanent?
I had a face lift about 4 years ago. I had allergic reactions to the sutures used to tighten the muscles. I had to be reopened and have them removed. Of course the PS couldn't find all of them and I had ongoing infections for around 3 years. I want to have a tummy tuck with muscle repair but I'm afraid I will get an allergic reaction to the sutures and I know I don't want to be opened back up to have them removed from a tummy tuck. The type used on my face lift were called ethibond. thanks Dawn

If you had an infection with Ethibond Sutures, that does not mean you are allergic. It is an inction because ethibond is a braided suture.
Tell your plastic surgeon about your experience with ethibond. he/she can use other type of suture material.
