For this particular problem, I would recommend a series of FotoFacial Treatments, which is the best way to remove both brown spots (excessive melanin) and red spots (hypervascularity). This uses light energy at specific wavelengths to target the brown or red lesions (melanin and hemoglobin, respectively). For more information on this, including a video demonstration, please visit my webpage on FotoFacial (http://www.findnewyouth.com/services/facial_rejuvenation/bbl_phototherapy).

Some stubborn spots and scarring might require fractional laser therapy with an Erbium laser as well. This uses the laser, which can be set to different depths and percentages of skin to be ablated (removed), and is also highly effective but more expensive. Its main advantage is getting deeper lesions at the dermal/epidermal junction or in the dermis itself, which the light energy from FotoFacial cannot reach effectively.
