howmuch fat can be lipo'd from top of arms
I am due to have upper arm lipo but surgeon said he could only remove a little due to my age (57). I have good elasticity in my skin, should I expect more?

upper arm lipo  October 17, 2012 2:33 PM

It is both imprudent and impossible to second guess the advice of your surgeon based on what you have provided. Does your doctor think you have good elasticity? Do you have stretch marks in the area? Is there a lot of excess skin? While often times a large amount of fat can be removed, any of the above can lead to a great deal of skin laxity. When that occurs, a brachioplasty may be necessary. My best guess is that your surgeon, having evaluated you in person, concluded that the best aesthetic outcome for you was a compromise between aggressive removal causing skin laxity and minimal removal leaving the shape of the arm more natural and intact. A lot of these opinions come from years of experience, which is something that varies from person to person, but presumably all cosmetic physicians have the best outcome in mind for each patient. The only way for me to provide you with a more valid second opinion is to examine you myself, something I am confident that my colleagues will be in agreement upon.
Kind regards,
