Rib cartilage

I require grafting of rib cartilage to rebuild my nose which is devoid of cartilage. I have read horror stories from patients whom have had rib cartilage work on their noses and they report issues such as a very hard nose, and an inability to smile and laugh without effort. What is the reason for this, and is this common with all rib grafts?

Recent Revision Rhinoplasty - Ear Cartilage

Hi, I got a revision rhino in Jan 09 and my surgeon used cartilage from the back of my ear. Can't see it at all from the front and can bearly feel it from the back anymore. She did a great job. I think taking from the rib is kind of too invasive if you ask me. Good Luck!
