Why won't my drainage hole not close?

It has been about 7 weeks since the drain was taken out from my tummy tuck and it still hasn't closed. I've been told that there is probably still a suture or some foreign object inside that will need to be found and taken out. Has anyone else had this happen? Is this common? I just want this thing to stop draining. I have to have guaze on it all the time.
