In order to get best results it is recommended to use silicone sheeting as much as possible on the scar tissue to help diminish its appearance. You can also supplement the scar reduction treatment with a silicone based cream that does the same thing.
What silicone sheeting does is help to reduce the scar size, thickness, height, and color of all types of scars, including new and old scars. because the sheeting can offer constant pressure to the scar tissue it helps to flatten, smooth and blend it into surrounding tissue making it less visible. This is the advantage of sheeting over creams.
Sheeting is recommended to be worn AT LEAST 12 hours a day, but if you can do more then even better! Make sure to apply the sheeting to clean skin ( and make sure to wash the sheeting daily) for it to be effective (and economical).
Will sheeting lose its stickiness eventually? Yes, it will. So, in order to maximize the lifetime of your sheeting, be sure to use some tape to hold it into place when the stickiness dies off.
I personally like to recommend the Scar FX brand because 1) it works, and 2) it lasts 3 months compared to all other brands that last 3 weeks.
Here are some for you to look into:
1) Scar Fx Silicone Scar Sheet - 1" x 22" (w/Self Adhering )MMH ID: 22590: http://bit.ly/dC9SKI
This is the brand that last 3 months!
2)Oleeva Tummy Tuck Scar Reduction Silicone Sheet - (2 x 23 in; 5 x 58 cm)MMH ID: 24937: http://bit.ly/datdJX
This one is a flesh tone and has a bit of a contoured shape to it.
3)Biodermis 1.4"x 11.5" Abdominal/Tummy Tuck Scar Reduction Silicone Strip (1 Pair) (Self-Adhesive) MMH ID: 15698: http://bit.ly/d6Zu5l
This is another great brand that also makes a washing solution to keep your silicone sheeting as clean as possible.
If you are unable to do sheeting all the time, you should take a peek at some creams you can use during the day.
1)Kelo-cote Scar Healing & Reduction Gel
MMH ID: 10066: http://bit.ly/c7VUAx
This all silicone based gel also works to further reduce the appearance of scars. It also has reviews from people so you can read how it worked for them
2)Scar Esthetique Healing & Reduction Cream (w/Silicone, Arnica, Antioxidants, Copper Peptides, Co-Q10 MMH ID: 15690: http://bit.ly/ccINvo
This brand is great because it has added ingredients that help to reduce the scar even more. Arnica helps with swelling, while vitamins and antioxidants help promote good healing of the tissue. This brand also has reviews so you can read how well it works for others.
