Clitoral hood reduction is an excellent procedure for you to reduce the bulkiness of the clitoral area. There are two major techniques used. One technique uses upside down U incisions over the clitoris to reduce the skin over the clitoris and perhaps do some unhooding. This leaves a transverse "across the clitoris" scar. The technique I prefer is to remove lateral tissues and hide them in the crease. It is prettier and less prone to damage clitoral nerves and avoids clitoral hypersensitivity. The results can be quite gorgeous. If you want an actual reduction in size of the clitoris itself and not the hood then you have to excise the visible part of the clitoris and you should think twice about that since it may result in possible long term pain, neuromas, and reduction in ability to have clitoral orgasms.
As for labiaplasty surgery, I prefer the excisional technique, commonly derided by plastic surgeons as "amputation" technique, due to its precision and ability to remove the dark edges of labial tissue. I prefer this technique to Wedge or ZPlasty techniques that are prone to pull apart and leave holes as well as a transverse scar. I have a bunch of "Labiaplasty Gone Bad" photos of failed wedge surgeries on my website. Visit http://urogyn.org/revision_cases/revision_case2.html to see a wedge gone bad. Some who do wedges, such as Dr. Alter, do them quite nicely but those new to labial surgery may not have the finesse needed to get results similar to Dr. Alter's. Study both techniques and figure out if you want the natural labial edges that the Wedge will give you or if you would rather get rid of the dark edges and go with the excisional technique.
Total cost at our practice for clitoral hood reduction is $2,200. Total cost for labia minora plasty or labia majora plasty is $6,200. This includes the surgical suite and any anesthesia. We labial and clitoral surgery under local with gentle sedation and without a need for IVs. My international teaching program at the Alinsod Institute for Aesthetic Vaginal Surgery in Laguna Beach stresses safe awake surgery without the need for using surgery centers or general/spinal/epidural anesthesia. Nothing is safer than being awake and talking with your surgeon and telling him exactly what you want.
Hope this helps you.
