Revision rhinoplasty 3 weeks post op for fallen cartilage?

I am 2 1/2 week post-op for a open rhino, ever since my splint came off at day 5 I felt my nose was shifting significantly to the right even though it was straight before. I was told this was due to differential swelling. At two weeks, swelling still major so I'm put on medrol, now we see protuding cartilage on the right side of the tip. Saw my doc again today and he agrees, it's cartilage, he thinks it fell and recommends surgery as soon as next week. Apparently this has never happened to him which makes me concerned. What am I supposed to think or do? I definitely don't think my nose looks right but is it safe to go back in this soon...swelling, scarring? Help!!

Diagnosis always comes before treatment. If your surgeon knows exactly WHAT occurred and WHY it occurred, then it may be fine to go back in so soon after. If he doesn't know why and isn't (more)

Thanks Doc, that makes sense. I completely agree. I don't feel he knows why this happened and that's what make me worried to go back under the knife with the same surgeon. I plan on trying to get a second opinion...the issue is I live in an area that isn't blessed with many plastic surgeons so I don't know how much luck I will have. I also don't know if I can afford another operation at this point. So it's a very overwhelming somewhat scary situation.
