I had beautiful lips and now its discolored. pale lower lip and dark upper lip - uneven pigmentation

I am a 25yr old female of Indian origin. My lips had little pigmentation since childhood but during pregnancy(3years ago) my upper lip becam very dark n now it looks horrible. i cant step out without using a lipstick to cover it up. what can be done? anybody?? pls help
