what treatment to undergo for removal of linear scar?

i fell down when i was 2years old and got my skin cut on the left side of lip...i underwent surgery then but i was left with a small scar!
As i was growing older and my face was expanding my scar also got expanded.
I am 18years now. I have consulted a dermotologist she advised me a laser treatment for 15 sittings. i underwent 8 sitttings and found that my scar was growing bigger so i stopped and asked an other doctor for advice. They told me to stop laser treatment and go for plastic surgery. I m totally confused what treament should i undergo now?

Z plasty scar revision from a Plastic Surgeon.

Look for a PS who does "Z plasty" technique to revise straight line scar. It jaggers out the scar. A straight line is easy for the eye (of on looker) to see. A broken up jagged line is noticed less. That is what Z plasty is all about.

Don't consult about "fixing your scar". You don't want to get another (predatory) doc wanting to sell you a laser. Consult on contingency they do Z plasty technique.

Even if that is not the specific technique to use, at least a doc who can do that technique would be better able to make a judgement call as to which technique to use than a derm (as Dr. Blinsky notes--LOL) is trying to make payments on the laser.
