(4.43) Botched surgery left me deep in debt and worse off than before., November 8, 2010, 12:19 pm Reviewer: DakotaDocMartin Dr. Muiderman did a panniculectomy surgery on me at the same time that a urologist did an adult circumcision. This was supposed to repair an injury I had as a child. The circumcision went OK but the panniculectomy was botched on so many levels I'll never fully get over it both emotionally and physically. Being an elective surgery I had to pay nearly $6000 out of pocket prior to the surgery. I didn't have insurance so the complications of a systemic infection and pulmonary embolism ended up costing me an additional $22,000.00 I'll still be paying on for years to come. I tried to find a lawyer to sue him but they didn't figure there were deep enough pockets. And, lawyers in the area won't go up against Altru Health System no matter what. I have nerve damage, I'm constantly short of breath, and the initial problem was just made much worse than it was. I get to spend the rest of my life like this and there's nothing I can do about it. There is a two year time limit on filing a suit and it's already 6 months past that time. If I could do it all over again I wouldn't do it. See full review

(10.00) Fantastic Doctor!, May 1, 2008, 10:44 am Reviewer: UNDsoc I had a septo/rhinoplasty to correct a breathing problem and remove a hump on my nose. I was referred to Dr Muiderman by one of the Ear, Nose, and Throat doctors at the health clinic. I set up a consultation but was still unsure if I was actually going to go through with it. After the consultation, I was sold. Dr Muiderman really made me feel at ease. He listened to me and answered all of my questions even though some of them were off the wall and kind of ridiculous. He asked me what I wanted done to the nose and then offered his own advice. On a picture he illustrated where he would make the incision, what he would remove, what it would look like, etc. I left the consultation feeling very comfortable with him as my doctor. The surgery and recovery went well. I didn't have any complications/problems and I experience almost no pain. When it came time to remove the cast and splints, Dr Muiderman and his staff made me feel very comfortable. I'm only 2 weeks post-op and I am thrilled with the results! The nose looks perfect and it's exactly what I wanted - subtle and proportionate. My family and friends are blown away by how wonderful it looks as well. My breathing problem is gone and I can finally breathe through both nostrils. It's wonderful! I would recommend Dr Muiderman to anyone looking to having plastic surgery. See full review

(10.00) Best surgical experience ever, September 2, 2007, 6:09 am Reviewer: pjsparent I had seen another PS prior to Dr. Muiderman. The first PS made me feel so uneasy and most of all embarrassed of my body. When I was given an opportunity to see another PS, I jumped at the chance. And I'm so glad I did. Dr. Muiderman made me feel comfortable and truly made me feel as if I was in good hands. He addressed all my concerns. He listened full heartedly and he truly made these physical changes to my body so easy to contend with. I would without any doubt solicite the expertise of this surgeon if I ever needed to again. I would definitely recommend Dr. Muiderman to anyone and everyone. See full review
