Procedure(s) I had done:
  • Eyelid Surgery, Blepharoplasty

I first visited Dr. Glavas’ Boston Office in December of 2014. Immediately, I took a liking to him. He came across as a very kind, attentive, and intelligent person. Unfortunately, as you can see from the before/after photos, his surgical abilities do not live up to his personal qualities.

Dr. Glavas recommended bilateral upper blepharoplasty ($6,000) in order to give me a “more friendly” appearance around the eyes. About six months later, I found myself back at his office undergoing the procedure. He applied a local anesthetic and began to cut into my upper eyelids while whistling away and chatting about life. The results were devastating:

*On my left eye, the incision was placed incorrectly—high above the epicanthal fold—resulting in a visibly red scar. The volume of skin that was excised was also incorrect, resulting in general misfolding and wrinkling across the entire upper eyelid.

*On my right eye, a much bigger problem was created. The internal structures of the eyelid —skin, levator muscle, orbital septum—were incorrectly modified. This resulted with not only aesthetic issues (i.e. asymmetry) but functional problems as well. It feels as if my eyelid is permanently stapled into the superior sulcus. Also there’s a soft throbbing pain, accompanied by dryness, that emanates from this area on most days.

Dr. Glavas acknowledged this terrible outcome and tried his best to fix this mess. He did this free of charge and for that I’m thankful. Unfortunately, after more than a dozen visits, nothing seems to have been improved.

I can now say with a high degree of confidence that Dr. Glavas has poor surgical skills. He’s a nice person to chat with but I would not recommend his services to people I care about. Even if his services were free, I would not recommend a visit. Why take the risk?

I’m now looking for a new surgeon that can undo the damage he created.
