I got SmartLipo with Dr. Gotkin on 1/8/08 for flanks, abdomen, lower butt and saddlbags for a whopping $18,000 including O/R, etc. While it's still too soon to rate final results in terms of shaping, I can comment on his practice now. Once you sign up and give the big deposit, the staff is totally rude and incompetent, doesn't return calls, and can't even process a charge without major problems. Dr. Gotkin himself is not accessible for questions once you've paid the deposit (nonrefundable, natch) and office hours are limited. The facility is dated, furniture stained, O/R looked old. About money matters: They make you pay the $250 consult fee BEFORE you go back to his office to see him the first time, then I had to wait nearly 2 hours to see him after paying (would have left if they hadn't pulled the prepay thing), but don't tell you about the prepayment policy beforehand. During the consult Dr. Gotkin claimed patients "rarely" experience any pain or swelling which is totally untrue for a procedure like mine. When I called to ask him about my pain/swelling (since I had no experience and was scared since he claimed it should not happen), Gotkin brushed me off and still claimed my reaction is very rare, many have "no pain at all." In my book each patient is an individual and should be treated as such. To summarize: Gotkin and Cosmetiq are focused on one thing: Money! Patient safety, welfare and ethics are definitely on the back burner. They have no e-mail and are very hard to reach after limited hours. Gotkin didn't return a weekend call until I tried several times, then was very annoyed. Would never return or refer anyone there.
