Did you get any procedure(s) done by this doctor?   Yes
Date of your procedure(s):   April 22, 2008
Procedure(s) I had done:   None

I had 15 spots that I wanted removed from by face, chest, shoulder, and hand: 10 dark “freckles” and 4 small vascular lesions. I began the initial consultation by telling the clinic sales manager that I was not interested in an overall skin resurfacing, I simply wanted these 15 spots permanently removed. She advised me to purchase a package of 6 full face and chest IPL photofacials, claiming that this would be more economical than individual spot treatments. After the consultation I read on the internet that the benefits of IPL photofacials last "up to" a year," so I told the clinic manager that I didn’t think the IPL treatments were what I was looking for. Again she assured me that the IPL treatments offered by United Laser Clinics would permanently remove the existing spots. I believed her, and signed a $1449 contract for the package of 6 photofacials. After each treatment I saw no improvement. I repeatedly expressed my concern that the IPL did not seem to be working, but was always given the same line: that the IPL requires several treatments, and that they would turn up the settings until I got the desired results. Finally, when the 6th treatment yielded no results, they offered more treatments, but since the first 6 had done nothing, I refused. I appealed for a refund to both the clinic manager and Michele Droulos, the vice president of the company, but my request was denied. I then did more internet research and found that the sales manager had exaggerated the effectiveness of IPL in order to get me to sign the contract. She should have explained to me BEFORE signing the contract that 1) the results of photofacials vary dramatically from person to person and cannot be guaranteed, 2) they are not designed to permanently remove individual age spots but only to temporarily even the skin tone (although it did not even do that for me), and 3) there will be no refunds even to those who have no results.
