In my early 20s, I had a very small underlying cyst on the side of my face that wasn't visible but was bothering me for a while. I wanted to get a consultation and did extensive research to find the best plastic surgeon in New York City so I wouldn't have an unsightly scar on my face. I made several consultation appointments with notable doctors I found through referrals and various publications, including Dr. Engler.

In contrast to the other surgeons I met with, Dr. Engler was extremely patient, kind, took the time to answer my list of endless questions and did not push an agenda or cross-sell other procedures. In fact he did the exact opposite and gave me his frank and honest opinion. He said although he could remove the cyst with a minimal scar, the costs and risk of the surgery might not be worth it. He told me to monitor the site to see if it changes and to follow-up if it did or if I had any questions. His candid and kind-hearted nature stuck me, so I asked him some questions about breast augmentation, another surgical procedure I've been contemplating with since I was a teen. He responded similarly in the sense that he had technically knowledgable and well-informed answers to all my questions and again didn't push me to surgery or a follow-up appointment. I left the office with kind goodbyes and an overall very positive impression of Dr. Engler.

Fast forward to present day in my early thirties-- I moved out of New York a couple years ago to pursue my graduate school degree. Although I've become more comfortable with myself and all parts of my body, I was still not happy with my chest, which resembles that of an 11-year old boy. Feeling that I was now old enough to make a mature decision about this procedure I wanted to get this done and had a small window of time before graduation and before I moved across the country. I knew that if I were to get this procedure done, there was only one person I'd get it done with: Dr. Engler.

Before I made an appointment, I did some research online given that it's been so long and found that he was still THE premier surgeon of his field. I viewed endless before and after pictures and found that his were by far the most natural-looking compared to others in his field especially among women with very little breast tissue like me. Moreover, Dr. Engler posted an abundance of before and after pictures, an element that was important to me because it showed his consistency of successful procedures.

I made an appointment, took a train ride to New York, and Dr. Engler and I were reunited after 10 years. Dr. Engler was as kind and patient as I remembered him. After going through my long list of questions, I informed him that I didn't want anyone to know I got this procedure done and that I wanted a very modest and natural look. After taking thorough measurements of my ribcage and breast tissue, he suggested that for my 32AA-AAA size, an implant between 175cc - 200c might work best and sent me home with pre- & post-op materials, information on breast implant surgery and risks and a link to his youtube video on how to create sizers to help me make my decision on whether I wanted to move forward with the procedure.

After informing myself of all the risks, I made the second appointment with Dr. Engler. His wonderful assistant Keity and him took pictures and we agreed to go with a sub-muscular Moderate + silicone implant with a periareolar incision. We also discussed that Dr. Engler would use his judgement to test and choose between a 175cc and 200cc implant the day of surgery to ensure the best result.

Given my very short window between graduation and flying out of country, there were only a few dates that worked within the next month. The lovely and splendid Arlene, Dr. Engler's administrative associate and Keity not only helped me set up a surgery date and talked me through the procedure, but also helped me find someone to stay with me overnight in my rented AirBnB post-op apartment.

The day of the surgery came and thanks to Dr. Engler's gifted hands and artistic eye, the surgery went great. I followed his post-op instructions religiously and he called in a few times everyday to check up on me. By the third day, I was well enough to take a bus back to grad school to take a final exam [which I ended up acing possibly due to the muscle relaxers :-)]. When I came into his office 5-days post-op for my follow-up, I had no bruising and was off most of my medication.

I am now 6 weeks post-op and thanks to Dr. Engler's magical hands and his patented tool he uses exclusively for his breast augmentation procedures, I couldn't be more happy with the size and results. The periareolar incision scars (with the help of Dr. Engler's expert sewing skills, silicone scar sheets and a healthy diet) are now barely noticeable, and my breasts are symmetrical and so natural-looking that even I sometimes forget that I got them done. I cannot thank Dr. Engler enough and highly recommend him for this procedure.
