He's the best surgeon - and, as the wife of a physician, I should know.
Whether you are actively seeking the best plastic surgeon for your cosmetic procedure, or are still at the contemplation stage, you need not look any further than Dr. Alan Engler, M.D. He’s the best surgeon for numerous reasons that I will discuss.

First, let me just inform you that my husband is a physician who supported my decision to have breast augmentation (after breastfeeding three children), but had very serious reservations about finding a qualified surgeon. His main concern was my safety above all. During his career he has witnessed what can happen when one doesn’t become actively engaged in the research process when surgery of any kind is involved. Luckily, my profession has required me to become quite adept in the field of research. And I did my research thoroughly. To make matters even more involved, I live two hours away from Dr. Engler AND it turns out I needed a more complicated procedure (a breast lift on both sides in addition to the implants).

From Dr. Engler’s web site, Bodysculpture.com, you will learn that he is not only board certified, but has graduated from Yale and Columbia; two prestigious universities. Further, not only is he a member of many professional societies and groups, but an advisor to some of them as well. He has received numerous accolades from impressive, well-respected magazines. He has written several books, one of which I read cover to cover, and has designed and patented two surgical instruments. Wow. By the way, I also made sure that Dr. Engler was not implicated in any mishaps as a result of a procedure he performed.

What follows is what you will not find on the web site: Dr. Engler is an amazing doctor, and an amazing person. Over the course of two years Dr. Engler consulted with me several times, free of charge. He was always accessible, whether by phone, text, or email. I really was amazed at how patient and thorough he was throughout the decision process because it dragged on for so long. The first issue was that I had lost over ten pounds after his first assessment. Then I cancelled the surgery one week prior due to some bad news following the result of a needle biopsy on one of my breasts. Dr. Engler and his fantastic staff (yes, he has drawn wonderful people to his practice which my husband can tell you is difficult and rare) were understanding and comforting at an extremely frightening time in my life. His staff always made that extra effort to accommodated my schedule, even when I called several times in one day to change my appointment.

After more consultations, pictures, and revised assessments, I finally had my surgery. Although I was anxious, Dr. Engler, his assistant, and the anesthesiologist truly made me feel safe, cared for, comfortable, and respected. In fact, you will find that most conversations in his office are whispered in accordance to HIPPA policies, and every patient’s right to discretion and privacy. You will appreciate this greatly.

Following the procedure, Dr. Engler called me every day, weekend included, to check on my condition until my follow-up a few days later. When I didn’t think I would be able to drive myself into NYC on the day he felt I should be seen, he offered to pick me up from Port Authority so he could give me the care I needed at the proper time. My husband, who has a healthy cynicism of most doctors, called him “a jewel.” And he is.

Finally, you may ask yourself: Why would this woman with three young children inconvenience herself by choosing a surgeon who is located over two hours away from her residence when certainly there must be some fine surgeons closer to home? The answer is simple: I did my research and Dr. Engler is not only the best plastic surgeon (my breasts look fantastic, by the way, better than I ever expected), he is a kind, compassionate doctor who you do not see the likes of anymore. When you meet with him you’ll agree.
