My struggle with feeling confident about my body, specifically my breasts, began when I was a teenager. By the time I was 16, my breasts were developing in a very asymmetrical manner, that left me feeling devastated. At that time, surgery was conducted, a reduction in one breast, to match the size of the smaller one. While the end result revealed an improvement, I was not completely satisfied or comfortable in my body (which as a teenager can be very debilitating). Fast-forward to 16 years later, and once again I began to experience greater asymmetry. I believe a factor to my breast development has been an inconsistent level of hormones. I have struggled for years with fluctuating levels, mainly due to the presence of a pituitary adenoma. Watching my breasts become very asymmetrical again was a nightmare. I began researching rigorously, which is when I learned about Dr. Engler.

After many conversations with girl friends, endless research, and consults with my Endocrinologist, I knew that a breast augmentation was what I wanted to do. In addition to the fantastic reviews I found on the internet, a girl friend of mine could not have spoken more highly about Dr. Engler. She raved about her whole experience for weeks, and to this day couldn't be happier. I knew I had found a great doctor. Upon my first visit to Dr. Engler's office, I was extremely nervous, but from the second I walked in the office Arlene (front desk receptionist) made me feel like a long-time friend. My first consult with Dr. Engler made me confident and excited about the possibilities, however he was very honest and realistic about what to expect. Prior to considering any surgery, I had to have all of my hormone levels within normal limits and the growth on my pituitary gone. My body needed to be functioning in a healthy manner in order to move forward, which made complete sense.

A year later, following multiple consults with Dr. Engler, I was ready for surgery. My situation was more challenging than most, as I had already had surgery at a younger age and I was very asymmetrical. Dr. Engler was meticulous when planning for my surgery. Multiple measurements, various sizes considered, and frequent consults with the Nurse, Katie, were all part of the elaborate plan. When I arrived at the office the morning of surgery, I could not have felt more comfortable and confident in the decision I was making. From the moment I set foot in the front office, to my last minute questions with Katie and Dr. Engler, to the conversation with the Anesthesiologist, I knew that was in good hands. As I started to feel sleepy, the only emotion I had was excited, for I knew I had a wonderful team surrounding me.

I am now a little more than 2 weeks post-surgery. Dr. Engler's genuine concern was made even more clear, as he called a couple of times on the day of surgery, and then continued to touch base with me daily for the first week, to check in on how I was doing. I ended up with breast implants (2 different sizes for symmetry), a lift, and additional work to make everything as even as possible, quite a challenge! I have continued to go for follow-up visits to the office and keep in touch with Dr. Engler via telephone calls and e-mail; he is always available. I am overwhelmed with joy and could not be happier that I made the decision to work with Dr. Engler. I am a perfectionist with a very type A personality, and I am blown away by the results and how confident I feel looking in a mirror. Thank you so much Dr. Engler!!!
