I always knew my breasts weren’t normal. They were asymmetrical with puffy nipples and a cone-like shape but without any defined crease. I hated them, so I tried to hide them; from the age of 13, I wore a padded bra every single day. I never knew there was a name for the condition until I started researching breast augmentation and found other women who looked like me. “Tuberous Breast Deformity” - the relief I felt when seeing those words was overwhelming. There was a reason my breasts looked the way they did and I wasn’t the only one to go through this.

During my extensive research regarding potential surgeons, Dr. Engler caught my eye because he had written several books on plastic surgery and had actually designed and patented instruments that are used in various cosmetic and reconstructive surgeries; I liked the idea of working with someone who was not only the recipient of numerous accolades and noted for being among the best surgeons in the area, but who was also an innovator in his field. Intrigued, I explored his website and was delighted to find that he directly addressed tuberous breasts on his site. His careful explanation of the condition and what can be done to improve it gave me a glimmer of hope that my breasts could be fixed.

I wanted to book a consultation but I was nervous and had questions that I wanted to address beforehand. Other plastic surgeons whom I had emailed were quick to insist that I speak to them in person during a paid consultation. This didn’t make sense! I was looking for information about tuberous breasts in general, nothing specific to my surgery! In sharp contrast, when I emailed Dr. Engler, he answered in a manner that came to define the rest of our interactions: kind, informative, and honest. No matter how small my questions were throughout the process, Dr. Engler always had the time and patience to call and answer each one in depth with a reassuring honesty that cemented my trust in him. Dr. Engler’s staff deserve praise, too. The women in the office are among the sweetest on earth. They were a joy to work with and I looked forward to seeing them every time I went into the office!

The overall experience was amazing and the results are fantastic. I can’t tell you how many times in the weeks after the surgery I caught a glimpse of myself in the mirror and teared up. After years of hating my breasts they were more than normal - they were beautiful. Thank you so much Dr. Engler. You changed my life.
