Our
Caregivers Are Trained In Plastic Surgery Healing
What
makes our service unique from regular caregiving and nursing
companies is that we have an expertise in cosmetic surgery
healing and we use the years of extensive knowledge that
we have acquired in this field to provide specialized,
cosmetic procedure-specific training to all of our caregivers.
Each caregiver who cares for a patient is specifically
trained in the important healing issues and recovery solutions
that relate to the specific procedure(s) that a patient
is having. For instance, if you are having a breast augmentation,
you can rest assured that the Make Me Heal caregiver who
will care for you will have been trained in all the issues,
symptoms, problems and the solutions associated with recovery
from breast augmentation. Additionally, our caregivers
can work with your doctor’s staff to ensure that
the doctor’s post-operative care instructions are
followed precisely.
Are your caregivers available for care to non-plastic
surgery patients? Yes, our caregivers are trained
to provide care for any individual or patient who may
benefit from a caregiver. Learn More.

How
Can A Professional Caregiver Benefit My Healing Journey?
A
considerable number of patients get a professional caregiver
to care for them during the initial days of post-op for
procedures such as a breast augmentation, face lift, liposuction,
tummy tuck, and other procedures. The reason why patients
get a caregiver during their healing journeys is because
doctors often require a patient to have someone with them
during the initial phase of recovery. During this period,
the patient’s energies need to be focused on the
healing process itself and no effort should be spent on
activities that are not vital to the immediate recovery.
At this time, the patient’s main job is to rest,
relax, and do nothing else that could get in the way of
healing. As a result, a caregiver is needed to help the
patient in all of their daily functions and activities,
including everything from icing swollen regions constantly
around the clock, giving the patient antibiotic and pain
medications on time, preparing meals, feeding and giving
the patient drinks, helping the patient go to the bathroom,
assisting in wound care, helping the patient in showering
and personal care, assisting the patient in getting dressed,
and many other activities.
During the initial stage of recovery, a caregiver is also
needed because the patient’s physical condition
can often prevent them from doing their normal activities.
Following surgery, the patient is often tired and low
on energy due to the physical trauma from the surgery.
Additionally, the patient may feel disoriented, dazed,
and “out of it” due to the anesthesia and
medications (such as painkillers) that may be administered.
As a result, the patient’s coordination may be limited
and the patient may have trouble standing, walking and
focusing on normal tasks and activities. Trying to do
much of anything on one’s own without another person’s
assistance can disturb and even slow down the patient’s
healing process and worsen post-operative symptoms such
as swelling and bruising. Most importantly, having no
assistance during the initial recovery period can actually
be unsafe and dangerous due to the patient’s post-op
condition. For these reasons, having a professional caregiver
who can assist you in performing all of your necessary
daily activities can be a great benefit to your healing
journey, as it can help you heal better and faster and
provide you added comfort, safety, and peace of mind.
Finally, you may wonder if a family member or friend can
make a good caregiver to you during your recovery. Family
members and friends can in fact make great caregivers.
If you are going to choose this route, the family member
or friend needs to be naturally caring, responsible, patient,
and be a reliable person who can be counted on to be able
to be there for you around-the-clock and into the late
hours of the night for anywhere from 24-72 hours without
getting much sleep (depending on the procedure and your
personal condition). As importantly, this caregiver needs
to have good bedside manners and needs to remain cheerful
and calm even if the patient becomes irritable, emotional
and depressed (which is normal and can happen to a good
number of patients). We should note that for many of us
there is no short supply of caring friends or family to
help. However, patients have often chosen to go with a
professional caregiver instead because they simply preferred
to have a person who is experienced and who has good bedside
manners and patience. As you know, family and friends
love you and can be well meaning, but they simply do not
always have the right qualities to allow them to succeed
in the role of a caregiver for a person who just had surgery.
For patients who get a professional caregiver, the patient’s
family enjoys having a professional caregiver to care
for their loved one because the family can rest assured
that the patient is in good hands. Considering the financial
and personal investment that a patient puts into a surgical
experience, it is important to have the utmost comfort.
For these reasons, a Make Me Heal caregiver can be the
right solution for you. Whether you choose a professional
caregiver or not, the important message is that if your
procedure requires a person to assist you, then you should
not jeopardize your results and safety by not having a
caregiver – be it a professional, family member,
or friend. This is not the time to be alone and hold out
on this critical component of your early recovery.
