COSMETIC AWARDS

Americans underwent nearly 11 million cosmetic plastic surgery procedures last year, up 7 percent from 2005, but until now, the proud patients haven't had a chance to show off their results in a competition. The Beauty Enhancement Awards fill that void at Make Me Heal, an information, product-sales and group-messaging portal for plastic surgery and age-defiance. It has separate age and sex categories for liposuction, tummy tuck, breast augmentation, plastic surgeon, complete makeover and makeover for a couple.

Anyone can register as a contestant by April 30 at MakeMeHeal .com/ contests, with first-round voting already under way through May 31. A panel of surgeons, beauty professionals and celebrities will judge the second round and finals, scheduled for mid-July. As Make Me Heal president Ariel Perets explained, "The event will not be a parade of unattainable beauty, but rather a display of those who have had great results, which can be realistically achieved if people educate themselves with respect to having cosmetic surgery."
