About Marula Oil - Skin Hydration and Anti-Aging:
Skin aging can be categorized in two types: intrinsic aging and extrinsic aging. Intrinsic aging is believed to be genetically programmed and more immune to external and environmental influences. Most scientists agree that UV radiation and free radicals are the leading contributors to extrinsic aging. Free radicals come from various sources, including sun exposure, stress, poor nutrition and make-up.
Antioxidants and skin hydration play key roles in reversing extrinsic skin aging. Increased hydration also leads to skin “plumpness” and reduces fine lines. The unique combination of ingredients in Marula oil makes it superior for cosmetic use. Below is a comparison chart between the Marula oil and other leading skin oils.
Marula oil contains higher levels of Oleic, Palmitic and Stearic fatty acids. These fatty acids are critical for rapid skin absorbency, hydration and moisture retention. Marula oil penetrates quickly without leaving a residue or feeling greasy. It traps moisture and provides prolonged hydration. Marula oil also contains high levels of important antioxidants including, tocopherol (vitamin E), tochotrienol, phenolic compounds and flavinoids. Marula oil can improve skin hygiene by reducing skin surface bacteria.
Independent lab testing has shown that Marula oil contains more powerful antioxidants than Argan oil.
Marula oil is great for sunburned and radiated skin. Its hydrating and anti-inflammatory properties are very soothing. It can also be helpful when applied to traumatized skin following certain medical procedures, such as skin peels.
Women with breast cancer frequently require post surgical radiation therapy to prevent cancer recurrence. The heat and radiation energy from repeat treatments frequently lead to skin redness and irritation resembling sunburn. In severe cases this can lead to skin burns, breakdown and infection.

Marula Oil Testimonials:
“While undergoing radiation treatments my skin became badly burnt and relief was hard to find. I tried everything from radiation creams to Aquaphor with cooling pads. Although I did receive some relief; I did not receive complete relief until I tried Marula Oil. Within hours I had relief from the burning discomfort and after a few days the blisters had gone. I continued to use the oil and found not only did it cure the burning and blistering but my scars from surgery had blended into my skin. So I used the oil on my other scars and am finding that they also are blending in. My son works in a restaurant and uses Marula Oil for burns that he gets. He too receives relief right away with no scarring. This is an amazing product that I cannot stop talking about!”

“Let me start by saying that Marula oil is incredible. I used it following my breast cancer radiation and it reduced the discomfort immediately. Within a couple of days of using the oil the redness was almost gone. Radiation treatments turned my skin dry and raw. My skin was so sensitive that I had a hard time with anything rubbing against it. Marula oil was a great relief. It was very easy to apply and absorbed very quickly. My dry skin soaked up the oil and did not feel oily. It is an excellent moisturizer. Even though my skin is healed now, I am using the oil for my dry skin and sun exposed areas. I am a lifetime user.”

“I am a breast cancer survivor. After 8 weeks of radiation for my cancer treatment, my skin became very irritated and dry. At one point it even blistered. Dr. Kaidi recommended using Marula Oil and it really helped. It was very soothing and sped up the healing process. My skin felt re-nourished and moisturized. I really love the product and highly recommend it.”

“It soaked in immediately. Some other oils I have tried stay on the surface of the skin too long, so they become a nuisance. I also noticed results quicker than other hand lotions/oils that I have used. Within 5 days of using the oil, I could tell a difference in the texture and feel of my skin.”

“I used marula oil following radiation therapy to my breast. Following radiation, my skin was very red and irritated. Within days my skin had calmed down and was significantly less red. After a couple of weeks of using marula oil my skin was no longer red. I also feel that it improved the overall texture and quality of my skin in that area.”

“It really made my skin soft, unbelievably soft, and more firm."

The Leakey Collection in East Africa:
In harmony with all Leakey Collection products, the production of Marula Oil provides rural women an essential sustainable source of income
with which they feed, clothe, and educate their families. The women gather the fallen Marula fruit from around their homes and bring them to nearby collection points where the fruit pulp is removed for jams and juices. The nut is then sun dried and shelled - nothing is wasted. The oil-rich kernels are hand-selected and manually cold pressed to ensure the highest quality product. By adding value to this precious resource, Marula Oil ensures that the wild strands of East African Marula trees will last well into the future.
