Product Description & Benefits:
Quercetin is a favonoid (same type of compound as in
Green Tea EGCG and Rutin) and is a natural chemical present in onion. Quercetin inhibits fibroblast proliferation, spurs collagen production, and contraction of keloid and hypertrophic scar-derived fibroblasts. It can help prevent the release of histamine and other mediators of allergic reactions, possibly by stabilizing cell membranes so that they are less reactive to allergens. Quercetin also exhibits anti-inflammatory properties, inhibiting formation of inflammatory prostaglandins and leukotrienes. In vitro and animal studies have shown that Quercetin inhibits degranulation of mast cells, basophils and neutrophils. Such activity could account, in part, for Quercetin's anti-inflammatory, anti-allergy, and immunomodulating activities. Other in vitro and animal studies suggest that Quercetin inhibits tyrosine kinase and nitric oxide synthase and that it modulates the activity of the inflammatory mediator, NF-kappaB. The mechanisms of anti-viral (in some cases enhanced with vitamin C) and anti-cancer activity that have been observed, again in in vitro and in animal studies, are unknown. Another interesting property of Quercetin is its anti-elastase activity, meaning it inhibits the activity of the endogenous enzyme responsible for the breakdown of elastin, a component crucial to skin elasticity.

DIY Skin Care is an emerging trend in the beauty world where consumers are taking control of their skin care regimen and are making their own home-based recipes of skincare products by combining scientifically proven active ingredients inside creams. DIY presents an opportunity to create affordable beauty products at your home and to try different ingredients to arrive at recipes that are the most optimal for your skin needs. You can use DIY to simply copy well-known, expensive creams and make your own cheaper home version, or to combine your favorite cream with an ingredient that you've found to be beneficial.
