Following breast
augmentation, your doctor will ask you to wear a support or compression garment.
Wearing a garment after breast augmentation is essential to improve blood circulation,
minimize swelling after the procedure, keep implants in their correct position,
flush the body out of potentially harmful fluids, accelerate the healing process,
and allow the patient to return to daily routines sooner. A compression garment
also provides support to surgical areas for more comfort and helps the skin

newly formed scars and prevent them from stretching. Breast bands, wraps, and
bandeaus are another type of support garments used after breast augmentation

prevent the implants from rising. Breast bands can be worn above the top of
the implants or below the bottom of the implant, or above and below the implant.
Breast bands/wraps can be worn alone or with a support bra.
Breast support
and compression garments are typically worn immediately after the surgery for
a period of time that may range from days to weeks, depending on the doctor’s
instructions. During the initial period of post-op, your doctor may instruct
you to wear your garment constantly (even while sleeping) and only remove it
when you need to shower. As your healing progresses, you should be able to remove
the garment for various activities. Generally, the amount of time you will need
to wear your garment will be reduced as you move forward in your healing journey.
Due to heavy drainage and long, continuous periods of time that you may need
to wear the garment, it is recommended to purchase 2 garments.
