How
Can Breast Support Garments Benefit My Healing Journey?
Following breast
augmentation, your doctor may ask you to wear a support garment or bra. Wearing
a garment after breast augmentation is essential to improve blood circulation,
minimize swelling after the procedure, keep implants in their correct position,
flush the body out of potentially harmful fluids, accelerate the healing process,
and allow the patient to return to daily routines sooner. A support breast garment
also provides support to surgical areas for more comfort and helps the skin
fit better to its new contours. Further, support garments can also help prevent
a patient from experiencing some “throbbing” sensations after surgery.
Support bras also help reduce the tension on newly formed scars and prevent
them from stretching.
Breast support
garments are typically worn immediately after the surgery for a period of time
that may range from days to weeks, depending on the doctor’s instructions.
During the initial period of post-op, your doctor may instruct you to wear this
garment constantly (even while sleeping) and only remove it when you need to
shower. As your healing progresses, you should be able to remove the garment
for various activities. Generally, the amount of time you will need to wear
your garment will be reduced as you move forward in your healing journey. Due
to heavy drainage and long, continuous periods of time that you may need to
wear the garment, it is recommended to purchase 2 garments.
How
Do I Measure Myself Correctly & Get The Right Size?
Knowing how to
measure yourself correctly and getting the right size for your garment is the
most crucial step of selecting a garment. For this reason, please view the Size
Chart (and read the measuring tips) that is included along with each garment
that you view in the Store.
