How Can Support & Compression Garments Benefit My Healing Journey?

The Store has well-fitting, high-quality, and comfortable garments for both women and men that are made by the leading companies specializing in compression wear for plastic surgery including Design Veronique and Rainey Compression Wear. As you stroll through this area of the Store, you will notice that the compression garments are organized by procedure and can be found by simply using the "Select Procedure/Category" menu on the left side of this screen to find the compression garment.

For your convenience we list below the major compression garment areas by procedure. Please select the relevant procedure:

There are other procedures not listed here that you can find on the procedure menu (located on the left side of this screen) and which have specialized compression garments .

Following plastic surgery, your doctor will ask you to wear a compression garment. Wearing a compression garment after surgery is crucial to improve blood circulation, minimize swelling after the procedure, flush the body out of potentially harmful fluids, accelerate the healing process, and allow the patient to return to daily routines sooner. A compression garment also provides support to surgical areas for more comfort and helps the skin fit better to its new contours. Depending on your doctor, you may need to wear compression garments during both Stage One (initial 1-2 weeks of post-op) and Stage Two (2-8 weeks post-op) of recovery. For this reason, you may need to get both a Stage One garment and a Stage Two garment. Our store features a wide variety of Stage One and Stage Two garments . Read more about First & Second Stage Garments.

Important Healthy Tip: Learn why wearing a non-medical garment from a local store can be bad for healing.

First Stage Compression Garments

A first stage compression garment is typically worn immediately after the surgery and continuously for several days (or longer depending on the doctor's instructions) and then non-continuously for the initial 1-2 weeks of post-op. During the initial period of post-op, your doctor may instruct you to wear this garment constantly (even while sleeping) and only remove it when you need to go to the bathroom or to shower. Generally, the amount of time you will need to wear your garment will be reduced as you move forward in your healing journey. Due to heavy drainage and long, continuous periods of time that you may need to wear the garment, it is recommended to purchase 2 Stage One garments.

Second Stage Compression Garments

A second stage compression garment is typically worn during 2-8 weeks post-op (or longer, depending on the doctor's instructions). A second stage garment is worn once your first stage garment (first 1-2 weeks of post-op) is no longer appropriate. Generally, the amount of time you will need to wear your garment will be reduced as your move forward in your healing journey. Second stage garments are sized smaller, are more fashionable, and have a less bulky appearance than first stage garments.

How Do I Measure Myself Correctly & Get The Right Size?

Knowing how to measure yourself correctly and getting the right size for your garment is the most crucial step of selecting a garment. For this reason, please view the Size Chart (and read the measuring tips) that is included along with each garment that you view in the Store.

Risks With Wearing Non-Medical Compression Garments

Learn the risks of wearing non-medical compression garments.

Wearing compression garments following surgery helps not only minimize swelling and bruising, but also helps improve blood circulation, and speed up the recovery period. Compression garments are able to provide more support on the operated areas, thus allowing your body to heal nicely. These garments will help accelerate the recovery for Abdominoplasty, tummy tucks, breast implants, liposuctions, breast augmentations, breast lifts, facial surgeries, and arm procedures like brachioplasty and more.

Compression garments come in two stages. The first state is compression garments that are worn right after surgery about one to two weeks after the surgery or until the doctor says otherwise. The second stage is compression garments that are worn two to eight weeks after the surgery. Compression garments vary in size and appearance as you move from stage one to stage two. Wearing the correct compression garments will not only help speed up the recovery period, but also move you further ahead in the healing process.

At Makemeheal, you can find plastic surgery compression garments for most parts of the body including the armsfacemid thighabove kneebelow kneehigh back, upper body, mid body, lower body, shoulders and compression garments from reputable brands like Design VeroniqueMarenaRainey, and Isavela.
