How
Can Facial Support & Compression Garments Benefit My Healing Journey?
Facial compression garments
and chin straps can provide support and compression to the face, neck, and chin following a face lift
and neck lift or other facial procedure. These garments are placed around the face and cover the chin
and the lower face. Some garments may only provide support for the facial areas,
whereas others provide compression and support to both the face and neck. Some
facial garments have holes in the ears to avoid putting pressure on incision
areas, while other garments cover the ears. Moreover, facial compression garments
may also be worn after liposuction of facial, chin, and neck areas.
Following your
face lift or neck lift, your doctor may ask you to wear a compression garment.
Wearing a compression garment is essential to improve blood circulation, stop
the loss of blood, minimize swelling after the procedure, accelerate the healing
process, and allow the patient to return to daily routines sooner. A compression
garment also provides support to surgical areas for more comfort and helps the
skin fit better to its new contours.
A facial compression
garment is typically worn immediately after the surgery and continuously for
several days (or longer depending on the doctor's instructions) and then non-continuously
for the initial 1-2 weeks of post-op. During the initial period of post-op,
your doctor may instruct you to wear this garment constantly (even while sleeping)
and only remove it when you need to shower. Generally, the amount of time you
will need to wear your garment will be reduced as you move forward in your healing
journey. Due to heavy drainage and long, continuous periods of time that you
may need to wear the garment, it is recommended to purchase 2 garments.
How Can Facial Support & Compression Garments Benefit Me In My Daily Life?
Beyond their use during recovery from cosmetic procedures, the facial compression garments and chin straps featured in the Store are also helpful for anti-snoring, relieving symptoms of sleep apnea, controlling dry mouth, oral and ear surgery, and for general post-trauma compression.
