2008 BET Awards Explode with Plastic Surgery
The pyrotechnics that opened Usher’s set at this year’s BET Awards didn’t have nearly as much shock value as the plastic surgery onstage, which was chock full of Make Me Heal’s plastic surgery alumni.
Nearly all the nominees for Best Female R&B Artist have had plastic surgery. Mariah Carey has had more procedures than you can shake your booty at, including: a possible nose job, breast augmentation, liposuction procedures on her abdomen and thighs as well as dermal injections like Botox, Juvederm and laser skin treatments to maintain her smooth, poreless, wrinkle-free complexion such as Fraxel, Active Fx, and CoolTouch. Get the lowdown on Mariah’s encounters with the knife in Make Me Heal’s feature story on Mariah Carey’s Plastic surgery.
Alicia Keys won the award in the Best Female R&B Artist category and accepted her award with her surgically enhanced nose and possibly lightened skin. Make Me Heal previously reported on Alicia probable nose job, as her old nose compared to her present one was much wider, had little projection, was flat, and had a bulbous tip. Fans of Missy Elliot, the Winner for Best Female Hip-hop Artist may have noticed that the 36-year old dropped a lot of weight since starting out. While her weight loss is likely to have been aided by exercise and good nutrition, it is quite possible that Missy Elliott put some finishing touches on her body with surgical liposuction procedures. How much of the weight loss being attributed to liposuction is hard to determine as the rapper wears baggy clothes. She has said the weight loss is due to better eating, drinking lots of water and getting a personal trainer.
Winner for Best Male Hip-hop Artist, Kanye West, knows first-hand the danger of plastic surgery. The artist famously lost his mother Donda West during a liposuction procedure last year. Donda’s death has inspired more stringent regulations for cosmetic surgery.
The winner for Best Actress, Halle Berry is also a plastic surgery fan. In the past Make Me Heal has reported on Halle’s possible plastic surgeries, including a rhinoplasty (nose job) and breast augmentation. After giving birth, Make Me Heal also wondered whether if the hot mama had used a fast liposuction procedure, like SmartLipo to regain her pre-baby body. See Make Me Heal’s story on Halle Berry’s Plastic Surgery.

As an independent patient consultant for plastic surgery, who happens to be black, I can assure you that a rhinoplasty by a black person is not an attempt to look less black anymore than a butt implants by white women are an attempt to look “more black” Enhancement of a persons appearance through plastic surgery is a personal decision. It is not an attempt to mask ethnicity. Let’s face it; if that’s the goal you will have a dissatisfied patient. AngelaSegal.com
