Meg Ryan was America’s sweetheart When Harry Met Sally. But when the cute blonde star entered her forties, she made a big mistake and had unnecessary cosmetic surgery to enhance her lips and is now nearly unrecognizable in her starring role in the recent remake of the 1939 classic The Women.

In approximately 2005, now 46-year old Meg began to dabble in plastic surgery, most noticeably on her lips. Meg’s larger than life lips, which many have compared to being reminiscent of Batman’s arch nemesis, The Joker, are the main focus of many fans. The stretched out appearance of her mouth indicates that her lips are likely the result of a permanent filler rather than a temporary filler, like Juvederm, which would give them a more natural appearance.

On his blog, Dr. Anthony Youn speculates, “She appears to have had lip implants placed, most evident in her upper lip. Back in the late 90’s many plastic surgeons used Gore Tex implants to “permanently” enlarge the lips. I put “permanently” in parentheses because most patients had them eventually taken out. The problem I see with Gore Tex implants (and most lip implants in general) is that they are too firm to look like normal lip tissue. This can cause the upper lip to look unnaturally stiff. In addition, it can also make the mouth look wider because the implant doesn’t allow the lip to pucker normally. This result can be exaggerated with injectables like Restylane and Collagen, which surgeons use to enhance the borders of the lips. Her lips do appear better now, possibly a result of removal of some or all of the implant, or maybe just due to laying off the additional lip injections. I like her the best before she appears to have had anything done.”

Meg may have had the implants removed and now uses collagen or Restylane, as her lips do look less large than previously, although they are still not at all natural appearing.

In addition to having her lips done, there has also been speculation that Meg has had cheek implants, as her face looks fuller than before. While her cheeks are certainly fuller than they were in her youth, Make Me Heal thinks that they are the results of fat grafting, as in a volumetric facelift, like Madonna’s. (See Make Me Heal’s story on Madonna’s facelift), which was likely combined with some other tightening procedures, like a forehead lift or necklift, as Meg has no sagging skin.

“The fat is then processed gently to avoid rupture of the fat cells. We try to maintain some of the serum that comes out as there has been research showing that there are stem cells present in the serum. We next proceed with endoscopic brow lift, conservative blepharoplasty (eyelift) and/ or short scar facelift procedures depending on the patient’s need to address the excess laxity and create structural support for the face. At the conclusion of the procedures, fat grafting is utilized to volumize the face in a three-dimensional format in the brow area, in the teartrough, cheek and the region around the mouth.“

Meg may also get Botox injections, as her forehead doesn’t have any creases. The only signs that Meg is middle aged are around her eyes, where she has some creping and wrinkling.

Meg has reportedly said that she will be ready to retire when Hollywood stops asking for her, “”I think when Hollywood is done with me, I will probably be done with it. I’m not interested in playing those stock characters any more and I don’t feel sad that I don’t get those kind of offers.”

However, Make Me Heal suspects that the dearth of Meg Ryan roles comes more from her awkward appearance than anything else.

Although Make Me Heal applauds Meg’s efforts to remain eternally young, as she’s already managed to become nearly unrecognizable, it seems her quest for eternal youth has been as unsuccessful as her recent films.

Fans of General Hospital have been watching Nurse Bobbie help patients since 1977. But at some point the Nurse became the patient and actress Jacklyn Zeman had too much fun under the knife.

55-year old Jacklyn shows none of the typical signs of aging of a woman her age. In fact, her face is so pulled and puffed that it looks like it hurts.

Jacklyn had a breast augmentation some years ago, leaving her breasts riding unnaturally high and spaced apart. Judging by their position surgeon likely placed the implant through an incision in the armpit.

Jacklyn’s face has seen the bulk of plastic surgery. Her eyes are the most noticeable victims. Not only does she not have any crow’s feet around the area, thanks to Botox, she also doesn’t have any sagging or bagging, on either her upper or lower lids, which is the result of eyelid surgery, known as blepharoplasty.

Her over-all pulled appearance is probably the result of a full facelift, which helps eliminate sagging on the neck as well as wrinkles on the forehead. The total lack of wrinkles and overall frozen expression however, is the result of too much Botox, which paralyzes the muscles to eliminate wrinkles, both horizontally on her forehead and vertically between the eyebrows. In addition, she likely uses other facial fillers to plump wrinkles on her face, like Juverderm. She may also have cheek implants, as her cheeks are not only full, but still high, which is not likely to occur naturally in a woman her age. She has plumped her lips, likely in an effort to use Juvederm like many members of young Hollywood.

She may have also had a nose job at some time over the years, albeit a conservative one. Her bridge looks the same, but the tip is slightly rounder. It could also be a camera angle trick, which makes her nose appear to be slightly different.

In addition, most recently, Jacklyn has likely used lasers, like CoolFX or Fraxel, to eliminate fine lines and sun damage and restore a more youthful glow to her skin, as she looks to be a fan of tanning beds as well, which can age and damage the skin.

Jacklyn may be soap icon, but she definitely isn’t one for plastic surgery.

Aja Rock, a New Zealand Reality Star, who has been hanging out with Motley Crue drummer Tommy Lee, has shown her botched plastic surgery to the entire world, thanks to the Internet.

Aja Rock is a contestant on overseas reality show “Celebrity Treasure Island.” was seen with Tommy Lee on a night out. Unfortunately for her, when she was out with Tommy Lee on a night out the very sexy halter she was wearing revealed more than just cleavage and a well toned back. It also revealed a side view of the botched breast implants job that is rumored to her third. Rather than appearing smooth, her breasts are bumpy and she has unsightly scars.

The bumpy appearance can occur after a breast augmentation surgery and is called capsular contracture, the result of excess scar tissue.

“Aja Rock appears to have a complication of breast implants called capsular contracture,” said Plastic surgeon Dr. Anthony Youn to NZ Reality TV. “This is the result of excess scar tissue developing around an implant, making it appear hard and firm. In addition, it can cause a separation to form between the actual breast tissue and the scar tissue. This is what appears to be happening here, ” says Dr. Youn.

To fix her breast implants, Aja will need to undergo a capsulectomy, a surgery that removes the excess scar tissue.

“The surgery takes about 2 hours. Her implants do not need to be left out, but can be replaced right afterwards. If this surgery is performed appropriately and she heals well, her breasts can look and feel very natural once again,” adds Dr. Youn.

Hopefully Aja will take Dr. Youn’s advice before her next adventure in overexposure.

Fans of Bravo’s reality television show, Shear Genius, will recognize judge and celebrity hairstylist Kim Vo. Others may know him for his prevalence on celebrity gossip shows and his appearances on E! The Daily 10. Make Me Heal knows that it takes a lot of plastic surgery work to get Kim looking the way he does.

From his bleached hair, to his faux tan, Kim is certainly a man who spends a lot of time on his appearance, possibly even more than his celebrity clients, like Britney Spears (See Make Me Heal’s story on Britney Spears). Certainly, he has spent a fair amount of time under the knife altering his French-Vietnamese heritage.

Kim’s lips stand out, so he has certainly had them filled with something. As they are regularly the same big size, but an irregular shape, Make Me Heal suspects that they are filled with long lasting collagen or a permanent filler rather than a temporary dermal filler like Restylane.

To look more Hollywood and less Asian, Kim has likely had an eyelid surgery and a rhinoplasty. Asian double eyelid surgery, as the blepharoplasty procedure is called, makes the eye appear more rounded and double-lidded by having a surgeon implement a crease. It is often complimented with a browlift as well, which may be the case with Kim, especially for patients in their 30’s, which Kim looks to be beyond. He also may have had a canthopexy to reduce excess fat in lower eyelid surgery, which is often performed in conjunction with a browlift.

In addition to having his eyes done, Kim likely also had a nose job to make his nose larger, which is often the goal of Asian rhinoplasty. Both the nose bridge and nasal tip get implants, which, depending upon the discretion of the plastic surgeon, can be either artificial, like silicone, or tissue from the patient.

Jaw reduction and cheek implants are also common Asian cosmetic surgery procedures, but Kim’s jaw and cheeks are very defined, so it is unlikely that he did this. More likely, it looks as though he has lost significant weight since his rise to fame, helping his jaw and cheekbones become more pronounced. He could have had a liposuction procedure, but since his entire body looks reduced, it is unlikely.

Although there is no report of Kim’s age, Make Me Heal judges by his neck, which looks to be the only area above his shoulders he hasn’t worked on, that Kim is in his 40’s and is wrinkle-free thanks to dermal injectables like Botox. He may have also had a facelift or mid-facelift to tighten the area around the nasolabial folds.

He also has very blonde hair for a person who most likely has very dark hair. As it looks to be full and healthy, rather than frizzed out and damaged as bleached hair often is, Kim is clearly a master of his craft.

However, if Kim continues to spend time under the knife and needles, he will likely be better known for his plastic appearance than his great hairstyling.

If you don’t know who Phoebe Price is, you’re not alone. The tabloid frequenter seems to turn up at every red carpet event and in the pages of every tabloid, although nobody knows why she gets so much exposure. More of a mystery than who she actually is, however, is how much plastic surgery she has had done.

Although Phoebe is more famous for being Phoebe and being seen than being seen in anything other than the what not wear sections of tabloids, Phoebe does have some acting and modeling credits to her name, including a small role in the recent movie remake of Get Smart.

There seems to be no official record of Phoebe’s age, although some sources place her at anywhere from 28 to 35 years of age. If this is the case, she has already had more than enough plastic surgery to last the rest of her life and oddly enough, it all makes her look older, not younger.

Phoebe has transformed her face so that no matter, how she contorts it, it is unable to move, which is likely a result from injectable fillers and Botox. Phoebe also uses lip injections to make her lips as trout-pouty as any Hollywood A-lister.

In addition to filling her face with injectables, Phoebe also may have filled it with cheek implants. Her cheeks are larger than life and stick out considerably. She also looks like she has had at least one nose job in the past. The tip of her nose is very turned-up and her bridge is very thin, revealing very flared nostrils.

She also has breast implants, which appear to be painfully obvious on the actress/model’s thin frame.

Phoebe’s garishly dyed red hair and copious make-up for every occasion accent her odd appearance. Although she looks like she’s had every procedure known to man thus far, Make Me Heal still spots some sun damage in close-ups of Phoebe, so she may want to look into a laser treatment like Fraxel to take care of that.

Also, along with Mischa Barton, Phoebe has been at the center of cellulite, so she may want to use some sort of cellulite treatment to avoid future embarrassment. Reality stars, Kim Kardashian and her sisters, recently underwent The VelaShape Cellulite Treatment, from the makers of VelaSmooth. It is a non-invasive laser treatment that heats fat cells and then uses a vacuum to smooth out the uneven appearance of the skin. If Phoebe continues to stay in front of the bright lights of the camera and continues to have plastic surgery, it seems like her face might melt.

While a lot of focus has been placed on bad plastic surgery on women, it appears there are just as many male celebrities who were once handsome but who have been so surgically enhanced that they have become unappealing shadows of their former selves.

Couture designer Thierry Mugler was once a handsome designer but now goes by the name Manfred. But once he began taking steroids and turning into a veiny muscle-bound creature he has named “Manfred,” his good looks have been decimated thanks to Thierry’s misadventures in plastic surgery, as the Queerty blog called them. The 59-year old fashion icon has tanned, taut skin pulled tightly across his unusually muscular body and his face is also much more square and rough looking than it used to be. Thierry looks like he may have had a rhinoplasty to make his nose appear shorter and more rugged. Overall, his face is forehead looks to be free of wrinkles, which may be due to Botox. However, the picture is from a distance, so it is hard to tell. One thing is certain though, his body is not natural and is reminiscent of Carrot Top’s body, who is another plastic surgery victim (See Make Me Heal’s story on Carrot Top’s plastic surgery).

Bruce Jenner is a former Olympian. But he is also the stepfather of Kim Kardashian and her plastic surgery loving family. (See Make Me Heal’s story on the Kim Kardashian’s plastic surgery). It seems like in order to fit in to his new family, Bruce went overboard with plastic surgery, transforming his once handsome face into something nearly unrecognizable and almost unnaturally feminine. His face is tightly pulled, the result of at least one facelift and blepharoplasty (eyelid surgery) and his nose is so thin and narrow after a rhinioplasty, it looks like it might break at any moment. His face also appears to be longer than it used to, which could be a result of a chin implant. His sharp cheekbones are probably implants, which help give him a feminine appearance. Bruce is definitely the result of unnecessary plastic surgery.

Another unfortunate victim of plastic surgery is former British hunk Rupert Everett. Once compared to a modern-day Cary Grant, Rupert Everett has fallen prey to awful plastic surgery. The 49-year old actor was the hot guy in My Best Friend’s Wedding, but he’s no longer looking his best. He looks like he’s had a bad cheek implant job, eye lift, and potentially a facelift or brow lift. (See Make Me Heal’s story On Rupert Everett’s plastic surgery).

If you happen to be a gay porn fan, you may remember Lex Baldwin. After Lex switched teams and went straight, he altered his name and his face. Now going by Talon, the now straight porn star looks bizarrely feminine after having some facework. He has most obviously had a rhinoplasty, which narrowed his bridge and shortened the tip into a round bulb with overly flared nostrils. He may have also had a browlift as the shape of his eyes is different and the space from his browline to his lid is greater. His brows are also arched and he has lessened the hollow pockets around his eyes, which could be indications of Botox (not to mention waxing and grooming).

Mickey Rourke was once a really cute actor, playing the lead in the sexy film 9 1/2 Weeks. Since then, his face has transformed into a lumpy, freakish thing. The most noticeable plastic surgery he has had is a facelift that has pulled his skin back so tightly that he has lost his sideburns. Plastic surgeon Dr. Anthony Youn says on his blog, “Notice how his sideburns appear obliterated. This is a telltale sign of a facelift. The skin of the face is pulled back so far that the skin with the sideburns is removed during the surgery. This is one of the things that most plastic surgeons attempt to avoid with their facelifts.” In addition to a bad facelift, he is also rumored to have had a chin implant and cheek implants. He has also had several rhinoplasties to combat his nose that was broken in a failed boxing career. His odd appearance goes along with his odd behavior, like chopping off part of his own pinky finger.

Make Me Heal is happy to hear that 55-year old Patrick Swayze has successfully won his battle with pancreatic cancer and is due to appear on the small screen in a new TV series “The Beast” next year. However, we wish his battle with aging had been so successful. For the past several years Patrick has been listed as an awful plastic surgery victim on many blogs after a rumored facelift left him looking perpetually surprised. It does indeed look like the Dirty Dancing star has had a facelift, although it looks like it has finally begun to settle in and is not looking quite as awful as when it was first done a couple of years ago.

The Gambler, Kenny Rogers, gambled on looking younger and better with plastic surgery, but he looks like he lost the bet. The singer is quickly coming up on his 70th birthday, but you’d never know it, looking at his tight skin. Over the years, it is likely that Kenny has had a facelift, blepharoplasty (eyelid surgery) as well as a browlift and probably uses Botox injections as well. Although plastic surgeon Dr. Anthony Youn says on his blog, “I believe he’s had upper and lower eyelid lifts (blepharoplasty) performed, making his eyes look wide open. It’s a good job, since it doesn’t make him look too effeminate, like some men who appear to have had work done (Michael Douglas - eyelids, Robert Redford - eyelids, David Gest - yikes!), most critics tend to disagree with Dr. Youn’s positive outlook on the surgery. Kenny himself has said in the past, “Last year [2005] I had so many lines coming in at the side of my eyes up here. So I went in and got my eyes done, and I’m not happy about it. (The surgeon) is going to go in and fix that for me. They’re too tight around the eyelids for me. It drives me crazy. I wake up in the morning, and Wanda says, “You look great.” But I know what I want to look like. If we can fix that, then I’ll be glad I did it. If we can’t fix it, I’ll regret it or get used to it. ” At this point, it doesn’t look much can be done to help Kenny look like his old self and Make Me Heal thinks that he should quit while he’s ahead.

Men also feel pressure to look good, but they can get caught up with the plastic surgery bug just like women, with equally mixed results. Queerty.com had a good point when it showed that female celebrities aren’t the only ones with negative plastic surgery experiences.

Some people just can’t seem to learn from their mistakes and actress Melanie Griffith seems to be one of them. Despite criticism over her plastic surgery, at a recent public appearance, Melanie appeared more overdone than ever.

Melanie will turn 51 next month and has already undergone admitted collagen injections in her lips. What she has not admitted is having the rumored breast augmentation, liposuction, eyelid surgery (blepharoplasty), repeated lip augmentation and Botox injections, and a possible forehead lift and facelift that give her the odd appearance she currently sports (See Make Me Heal’s story on Melanie Griffith’s plastic surgery).

Her husband, actor Antonio Banderas, has blamed Hollywood’s cruelty on women as they age for his wife’s recent lack of movie roles. But Make Me Heal suspects that it is Melanie’s trout pout and pulled face that is turning off casting directors.

Melanie Griffith’s forehead appeared tight without a trace of a wrinkle, and the rest of her face no signs of aging - no crows’ feet around the eyes, no under eye bags, and no laugh lines. Her lips are so blown up that it looks like it is an effort to close her lips.

Instead of looking younger, Melanie’s plastic surgery makes her look older as it draws attention to the surgery and not to her natural beauty.

Carrot Top is frequently cited as a top ten contender for most awful plastic surgery disasters, along with familiar faces like Michael Jackson, Jocelyn Wildenstein, and Kenny Rogers. The curly-haired comedian has become better known for his over-the-top appearance than he has for his comedy. Make Me Heal takes a look at this funnyman’s funny look.

Although comedians often rely on making funny faces, Carrot Top, whose real name is Scott Thompson has had so much Botox that it looks like his face froze in an awkward position, the way your mother warned you it might as a child. Not only that, but his eyebrows are even more arched than Botox fan Nicole Kidman’s (See Make Me Heal’s story on Nicole Kidman’s Botox)

On his blog, Plastic Surgeon Dr. Anthony Youn notes, “He’s undergone quite a few changes over the years, not the least of which is an excessively arched brow possibly due to a combination of Botox and a Browlift.”

Make Me Heal noticed that for a 43-year old, Carrot Top’s skin is also unusually smooth, probably due to laser treatments, like Fraxel and chemical peels, which may also explain why is face is less freckled looking than the rest of his bizarrely toned body.

Dr. Youn also says, “His face looks extremely smooth as well, and may be the result of laser treatments or chemical peels.”

Plastic surgeon Dr. John Di Saia tells Make Me Heal, “Carrot Top has probably had facial peeling and/or skin care as the freckles are decreased relative to those seen on the rest of his body.”

In addition to his odd facial appearance, including what look like drawn-on eyebrows, Carrot Top looks almost feminine and soft (an effect that is furthered by heavy eyeliner), which can be a side effect of steroids, which he almost certainly uses to achieve his hard and toned body.

If Carrot Top wanted to be made of fun rather than make the fun with witty remarks, then his plastic surgery goal was certainly achieved, although Make Me Heal thinks that his time would have been better spent coming up with new material than under the knife.
