Kobe Bryant Loves His Wife’s Nose Job

Posted on August 4th, 2008 in Black Plastic Surgery, Celebrity Plastic Surgery by Sam Stets

Kobe Bryant and his wife, Vanessa, may have successfully weathered their ups and downs in their marriage, but one thing is for sure, Vanessa has had a nose job.

Vanessa Bryant, Nose Job

The 26-year old half Irish, half Mexican wife of this year’s MVP has refined her look since they were first married in 2001, getting rid not only of her harsh make-up, but of her former nose as well.

In early pictures of Vanessa Bryant, the bridge of her nose is fairly wide, making her face look wider as well. It looks as if Vanessa has had a rhinoplasty to slim down her nose, polish the appearance of her nose and help enhance the overall appearance of her face.

The nose job looks great, as Vanessa appears more exotic with her narrowed nose and looks less generic. Kobe Bryant must love her new nose as well, being that he has not cheated on her again.

Kim Vo: Plastic Surgery Stylist

Fans of Bravo’s reality television show, Shear Genius, will recognize judge and celebrity hairstylist Kim Vo. Others may know him for his prevalence on celebrity gossip shows and his appearances on E! The Daily 10. Make Me Heal knows that it takes a lot of plastic surgery work to get Kim looking the way he does.

Kim Vo, Plastic Surgery

From his bleached hair, to his faux tan, Kim is certainly a man who spends a lot of time on his appearance, possibly even more than his celebrity clients, like Britney Spears (See Make Me Heal’s story on Britney Spears). Certainly, he has spent a fair amount of time under the knife altering his French-Vietnamese heritage.

Kim’s lips stand out, so he has certainly had them filled with something. As they are regularly the same big size, but an irregular shape, Make Me Heal suspects that they are filled with long lasting collagen or a permanent filler rather than a temporary dermal filler like Restylane.

To look more Hollywood and less Asian, Kim has likely had an eyelid surgery and a rhinoplasty. Asian double eyelid surgery, as the blepharoplasty procedure is called, makes the eye appear more rounded and double-lidded by having a surgeon implement a crease. It is often complimented with a browlift as well, which may be the case with Kim, especially for patients in their 30’s, which Kim looks to be beyond. He also may have had a canthopexy to reduce excess fat in lower eyelid surgery, which is often performed in conjunction with a browlift.

In addition to having his eyes done, Kim likely also had a nose job to make his nose larger, which is often the goal of Asian rhinoplasty. Both the nose bridge and nasal tip get implants, which, depending upon the discretion of the plastic surgeon, can be either artificial, like silicone, or tissue from the patient.

Jaw reduction and cheek implants are also common Asian cosmetic surgery procedures, but Kim’s jaw and cheeks are very defined, so it is unlikely that he did this. More likely, it looks as though he has lost significant weight since his rise to fame, helping his jaw and cheekbones become more pronounced. He could have had a liposuction procedure, but since his entire body looks reduced, it is unlikely.

Although there is no report of Kim’s age, Make Me Heal judges by his neck, which looks to be the only area above his shoulders he hasn’t worked on, that Kim is in his 40’s and is wrinkle-free thanks to dermal injectables like Botox. He may have also had a facelift or mid-facelift to tighten the area around the nasolabial folds.

He also has very blonde hair for a person who most likely has very dark hair. As it looks to be full and healthy, rather than frizzed out and damaged as bleached hair often is, Kim is clearly a master of his craft.

However, if Kim continues to spend time under the knife and needles, he will likely be better known for his plastic appearance than his great hairstyling.

Did Tina Turner Turn to Plastic Surgery?

Posted on July 16th, 2008 in Black Plastic Surgery, Celebrity Plastic Surgery by Sam Stets

Tina Turner is a rock n’ roll icon, but she may also be a plastic surgery icon. The 68-year old keeps on rockin’ and so do her good looks, which may be due to a face lift and other procedures like Botox and chemical peels.

Tina Turner, Plastic Surgery

When the multi-Grammy award winning singer was up on stage alongside Beyonce Knowles, she held her own in the looks department as she danced her heart out. (See Make Me Heal’s story on Beyonce’s plastic surgery).

Although Beyonce is over 40 years Tina’s junior, the former member of Destiny’s Child seems to have already had more plastic surgery than her predecessor.

If Tina has had any plastic surgery, it was a job very well done. Tina’s neck doesn’t have nearly as much sagging as many women her age, so she may have had a facelift at some time. Her skin is also completely smooth, which could be the result of laser treatments, like Fraxel and/or chemical peels. Also, her brows are arched, which could be the result of a possible browlift as well as Botox injections, which would eliminate some of the crow’s feet that tend to crop up over the years.

Plastic surgeon Dr. Anthony Youn told msnbc.com, “Tina Turner is aging very gracefully. If she’s had any plastic surgery, it looks very natural and certainly isn’t as obvious as it is with many others.”

“The neckline of a woman her age usually sags more than her does, so it’s possible she may have had a facelift. Her skin is pristine; its smoothness might be due to laser treatments and chemical peels. Finally, her eyebrows remain elevated and smooth, signifying a possible browlift and Botox injections. She remains a beautiful icon of music.”

Make Me Heal couldn’t agree more with Dr. Youn’s summation. Tina Turner’s voice and appearance seem better than ever and we look forward to her concert tour which begins later this year.

Natalie Cole’s Unforgettable Plastic Surgery

Posted on June 27th, 2008 in Black Plastic Surgery, Celebrity Plastic Surgery by Erica Hurtz

58-year old songstress Natalie Cole is following her “Unforgettable” duet with her dad, Nat King Cole by again using technology to record another duet with the deceased legendary singer for her upcoming album. But Make Me Heal suspects that while producers are working on the music, plastic surgeons are working on the singer.

Natalie Cole, Plastic Surgery

Although Natalie does not have delicate features, in her early years, her nose was very large. Lately, her nose has become much more narrowed and refined, although it is still large enough to not look fake on her face and the plastic surgeon took care to make the rhinoplasty subtle enough so as not to render the vocalist unrecognizable. Many black female celebrities have gotten rhinoplasties at some point in their career, and Natalie Cole is no exception (see Make Me Heal’s story on black actresses with nose jobs).

For a woman nearing sixty, Natalie shows a shocking lack of wrinkles, which is the likely result of great genes and medical intervention. The horizontal lines on her forehead are nearly invisible, which could be the result of a dermal injectable like Botox, which is likely what she uses to keep crow’s feet around her eyes at bay as well. Other areas of her face where deep lines often show up, like between the eyebrows and from the nose to the mouth (nasolabial folds) are not nearly as pronounced as they should be at her age, likely the result of dermal fillers like Juvederm or Restylane. Natalie may have also dabbled in laser skin treatments such as Fraxel and Active Fx to keep her skin texture youthful.

Natalie’s cheeks are very pronounced, although they seem a little saggy. It could just be that she has had her cheeks plumped with fillers in the past and now gravity is taking its toll.

When people appear to be very young, often their neck is a dead giveaway of their actual age. This is true of Natalie. Although her neck is in fairly good shape, the skin is beginning to soften and sag enough that she may want to consider a mini-necklift to help better complement her more youthful face.

Natalie Cole, Breast Augmentation, Botox

Below the neck, Natalie may have gotten some work done. Although she has always been busty, in the last decade her bosom has become even more noticeable, prompting the possibility that she may have gotten breast implants. If Natalie Cole has indeed gotten a breast augmentation, then it has likely been a while since the surgery was performed. Breast implants require maintenance and Natalie’s breasts look like they have moved south, as befits a woman of her age, but they still have a roundness to them that isn’t entirely natural looking. If breast implants are indeed at play, then Natalie Cole joins friend and fellow crooner Whitney Houston in getting implants. See Make Me Heal’s story on Whitney Houston’s breast implants.

Still Unforgettable, a follow-up to Cole’s Grammy-winning 1991 cover album Unforgettable: With Love, will feature another father-daughter duet, this time on “Walkin’ My Baby Back Home,” which Nat recorded in 1952, in addition to pop standards.

When the album drops this September, Make Me Heal wonders if in the meantime Natalie Cole will perk up her slightly sagging breasts with a breast lift in anticipation of showing them off in a world tour to support the album.

Mary J Blige’s Breast Implants

The Queen of Hip-hop Soul, Mary J, Blige is much loved for her music, but much criticized for her obvious breast implants.

Mary J. Blige, Breast Implants, Augmentation

Mary J Blige was nominated at this year’s BET Awards for best Female R&B vocalist (see Make Me Heal’s story on Plastic Surgery at the BET Awards). While Alicia Keys walked away with the award, Mary J walked away with breast implants.

37 year old Mary J. Blige is known for her powerful vocals, but ever since she appeared at an event on the red carpet with fake implants, she has been just as known for her augmented twins.

Mary used to be a normal sized to fuller figured woman. But when she lost weight, her implants became more obvious. Rather than looking full and perky, her breasts look painful and pulled. She didn’t wear a revealing dress at the BET awards, rather she wore a deep purple sweater and black pants, which didn’t give fans much of a view of her rack and cleavage.

When patients lose weight after a breast augmentation, they no longer have the skin and fat to help conceal the shape of the implants. In Mary J’s case, she lost so much weight that her chest pokes through, separating her breasts and showing how tightly the skin is pulled around the implants.

Mary J looks great for her age, but losing a lot of weight not only isn’t good for implants, it can cause premature wrinkles as well. If Mary J has experienced other side effects from weight loss, such as loose skin, she can consider skin tightening procedures such as Thermage. Moreover, she may been using dermal fillers, like Juvederm and Restylane to plump out her face as she hasn’t got many wrinkles at all. She also has very full cheeks, the results of good genes or fillers.

In the past, Mary J has openly admitted to struggling with drugs but has denied accusations of using performance-enhancing steroids. Although, she does have some great guns that she isn’t afraid to show off.

Other than her fake breasts, Mary J looks amazing and Make Me Heal looks forward to seeing her next hair transformation.

See the complete plastic surgery profile of Mary J Blige on Plasticopedia, the celebrity plastic surgery encyclopedia.

2008 BET Awards Explode with Plastic Surgery

The pyrotechnics that opened Usher’s set at this year’s BET Awards didn’t have nearly as much shock value as the plastic surgery onstage, which was chock full of Make Me Heal’s plastic surgery alumni.

Mariah Carey, Plastic Surgery

Nearly all the nominees for Best Female R&B Artist have had plastic surgery. Mariah Carey has had more procedures than you can shake your booty at, including: a possible nose job, breast augmentation, liposuction procedures on her abdomen and thighs as well as dermal injections like Botox, Juvederm and laser skin treatments to maintain her smooth, poreless, wrinkle-free complexion such as Fraxel, Active Fx, and CoolTouch. Get the lowdown on Mariah’s encounters with the knife in Make Me Heal’s feature story on Mariah Carey’s Plastic surgery.

Alicia Keys, Rhinoplasty

Alicia Keys won the award in the Best Female R&B Artist category and accepted her award with her surgically enhanced nose and possibly lightened skin. Make Me Heal previously reported on Alicia probable nose job, as her old nose compared to her present one was much wider, had little projection, was flat, and had a bulbous tip. Read the full story on Alicia Keys’ plastic surgery.

Missy Elliott, Plastic Surgery

Fans of Missy Elliot, the Winner for Best Female Hip-hop Artist may have noticed that the 36-year old dropped a lot of weight since starting out. While her weight loss is likely to have been aided by exercise and good nutrition, it is quite possible that Missy Elliott put some finishing touches on her body with surgical liposuction procedures. How much of the weight loss being attributed to liposuction is hard to determine as the rapper wears baggy clothes. She has said the weight loss is due to better eating, drinking lots of water and getting a personal trainer.

Winner for Best Male Hip-hop Artist, Kanye West, knows first-hand the danger of plastic surgery. The artist famously lost his mother Donda West during a liposuction procedure last year. Donda’s death has inspired more stringent regulations for cosmetic surgery.

Halle Berry, Plastic Surgery

The winner for Best Actress, Halle Berry is also a plastic surgery fan. In the past Make Me Heal has reported on Halle’s possible plastic surgeries, including a rhinoplasty (nose job) and breast augmentation. After giving birth, Make Me Heal also wondered whether if the hot mama had used a fast liposuction procedure, like SmartLipo to regain her pre-baby body. See Make Me Heal’s story on Halle Berry’s Plastic Surgery.

Tyra Banks’ Secret Plastic Surgery

Posted on June 24th, 2008 in Black Plastic Surgery, Celebrity Plastic Surgery by Carrie Zender

Tyra Banks may just be one of the savviest models around, having forged a new career after the runway in talk show television. Tyra recently won a Daytime Emmy award for her television talk show, “The Tyra Banks Show.” On her show, she often dispels rumors and myths not only about women in general, but about herself in particular. In her first season on the air, Tyra Banks dismissed the rumor she had had a breast augmentation, but she has never addressed rumors of a nose job.

Tyra Banks, Nose Job, Rhinoplasty

Tyra’s large breasts were long speculated to be the results of breast implants. But Tyra proved otherwise in an on-air segment featuring a plastic surgeon. As the audience watched, Tyra removed her bra and let her boobs swing free. Without the bra, Tyra’s breasts fell naturally to her navel. To further illustrate her point that her breasts are indeed real, Tyra then allowed a plastic surgeon to use an ultrasound to detect any foreign material. When he found none, the enthusiastic former model turned talk show host was vindicated.

Tyra Banks, Breast Augmentation, Implants

Tyra frequently disputes tabloid rumors about herself on her show, but she has never mentioned or addressed the rumor that she had a nose job when she was young, presumably to further her modeling career and appear less ethnic.

In a high school photo, Tyra’s nose is wide and round. Her current nose, the nose that made her a household name around the world, is much more narrow and defined along the bridge and significantly less rounded at the tip. Rhinoplasties are common among black women in the public eye (See Make Me Heal’s story on famous black women with plastic surgery) and actress Elise Neal estimates as many as 75% of black women in Hollywood have nose jobs.

Tyra has done a lot to empower black women and we’d like to see her take her honesty one step further and admit to her nose job and whatever other procedures she has in the future.

75% of Hollywood Black Women Get Plastic Surgery

Posted on June 20th, 2008 in Black Plastic Surgery, Celebrity Plastic Surgery, Ethnic Plastic Surgery by Jet H. Ross

A Hollywood actress just revealed that the large majority of African American women in Hollywood have gotten plastic surgery. In an unusual move, actress and former 50 Cent sidekick Elise Neal just opened up about the prevalence of plastic surgery among black female celebrities. She also fesses up to having gone under the knife herself.

Elise Neal, Breast Augmentation, Implants

In a recent interview with Bossip, when asked about plastic surgery, Elise says:

“Being a person who’s had plastic surgery I think it’s personal choice. A lot of people make me laugh about the plastic surgery situation because I hate to say it but most African American females in entertainment have had some type of plastic surgery. Maybe it’s not breast enhancement but I’d say at least 75% of them have had their noses done and they cannot tell me that they haven’t. I’m sorry.”

Several romances ago, 42-year old Elise Neal had a relationship with rapper 50 Cent, aka, Curtis Jackson. The dancer and actress appeared in the 33-year old rapper’s “Follow My Lead” video. She has been in a few movies like Hustle & Flow and had several roles on TV shows like CSI, but she continues to dance and model, staying true to her roots.

Elise openly admits to having had a breast augmentation, saying:

“I did my breast enhancement for me. But it didn’t have to do anything with acting. It had to do with being a performer. They were always hiring the girls who were more voluptuous.”

She adds, “I’ll be honest; I was insecure back from when I first started dancing. I felt like I always had to stuff (my costumes) to fit in and be in a chorus line with women who already had breast enhancement or who were naturally endowed. I wanted to be able to wear my [dance costumes] without someone telling me to stuff it. I’m not ashamed of it. People need to just own up to it.”

Meagan Good is another African American actress who had a breast augmentation for her craft (See Make Me Heal’s story on Meagan Good’s plastic surgery), as did another of 50 Cent’s exes, Vivica Fox (See Make Me Heal’s story on Vivica Fox’s Plastic Surgery).

Elise Neal’s breast implants are obvious, but her estimate of the large amount of black actors with nose jobs leads Make Me Heal to wonder if she counts herself within this statistic. If Elise has gotten a rhinoplasty, it was very conservative, as her nose is rather wide and the tip is round, unlike the typical rhinoplasties that narrow the bridge and make the tip more chiseled and pointy. If she did get a rhinoplasty, it looks very natural and well done.

What Make Me Heal finds most remarkable is that for a middle-aged woman, Elise is completely unlined and unwrinkled. Although African Americans tend age better and wrinkle less due to having thicker skin, we suspect that she uses dermal fillers, like Botox, as does fellow actress Vanessa Williams, who also had a minor rhinoplasty (See Make Me Heal’s story on Vanessa Williams’ plastic surgery).

So far, Elise’s plastic surgery looks successful, but as her popularity grows, we hope she doesn’t go overboard on the plastic surgery, like other successful women in Hollywood, and ruin her attractive looks.

See the complete plastic surgery profile of Elise Neal on Plasticopedia, the celebrity plastic surgery encyclopedia.

Is Meagan Good’s Plastic Surgery Bad?

Posted on June 18th, 2008 in Black Plastic Surgery, Celebrity Plastic Surgery by Jet H. Ross

Twenty-something’s will fondly remember Meagan Good from her small role on The Disney Channel Original Series The Famous Jett Jackson. Since then she has gone on to star as the hot girlfriend in countless movies. This Friday, she and her breast implants join the cast of the film The Love Guru alongside Mike Meyers, Justin Timberlake and Jessica Alba.

Meagan Good, Breast Augmentation, Implants

The 26-year old beauty has had an obvious breast augmentation. Her breast size looks to have gone from a medium B-cup to a large D-cup. On her slight frame, the augmentation is obvious. The implants have a typical implant appearance: they ride high and round and far apart, as can be seen in the picture of Meagan in a black T-shirt made see-through by the bright light of the camera flash. Close-up pictures reveal that the drastic increase in size has left Meagan with stretch marks and tight, pulled skin across her breasts, while the rest of her skin remains flawless. Stretch marks often accompany sudden weight gain or loss, and in this case, it would be a significant boob gain.

Large implants require maintenance, as they will sag eventually. Also, many women find that carrying such a large load in front creates back and neck pain, so we wouldn’t be surprised to see Meagan have them replaced in a few years with a smaller size. In fact, Make Me Heal thinks that having a smaller, more natural implant the first time around would have better enhanced Meagan’s natural beauty.

Meagan doesn’t look like she’s opted to have a nose job, which is becoming more common for actresses wanting to better fit with Hollywood’s standard of beauty. Although her cheekbones are high, they are more likely due to her Cherokee ancestry than to i
