Did Ben Stiller Have Plastic Surgery?

Posted on June 1st, 2009 in Celebrity Plastic Surgery, Male Plastic Surgery by Dana Jackson

For Ben Stiller, comedy is in his genes. But with Ben Stiller’s looks having improved dramatically in his recent sightings while promoting his new film Night At The Museum: Battle of the Smithsonian, Make Me Heal wonders if plastic surgery is also part of the actor’s genetic makeup.

43-year old Ben Stiller is getting some salt with his pepper, but other than that he appears to be aging better than ever.

Ben Stiller, Plastic Surgery

When Ben first hit the big screen, he was really angular and awkward looking, with a large nose and protruding ears. Over the years, his hair grayed and he started getting jowls and the appearance of a haggard look, coupled by wrinkles around his eyes.  Now, he is magically rejuvenated and his face has softened up, leading Make Me Heal to wonder if he’s had plastic surgery to help him along.

Ben Stiller’s ears no longer take over the screen, so he may have had an otoplasty procedure to pin them back. On the other hand, it also possible that he has been hiding his ears behind haircuts that better suit his unusual face.

In addition to having less obtrusive ears, Ben also looks more refreshed and less haggled than he did earlier in his career.

Manhattan plastic surgeon Dr. David Shafer says, “Ben definitely looks better than he did 10 years ago. In his most recent photos, his hair is covering the projection of his ears, which make it difficult to tell if he has had otoplasty. He skin looks healthier and he looks well rested.”

Ben’s rejuvenation could be due to laser skin treatments such as Fraxel or Thermage that have smoothed out his skin as well as Botox injections and Resytlane, which have helped eliminate some of the lines that gave him such a craggy appearance in his earlier years.

While Ben’s nose is the same size as it always was, it isn’t nearly as angular as it used to be, which is likely the result of a conservative rhinoplasty.

Plastic surgeon Dr. Jennifer Walden says, “Considering Ben Stiller’s nose looks to have the same proportions it had 10 years ago and does not seem to have changed much in size, I think he may have had a very conservative rhinoplasty, if at all. Similarly, it’s difficult to tell if he has had an otoplasty or ear pinning because his hair covers the majority of his ears. He may have had Botox injections to maintain smooth skin.”

On the other hand, Ben could just be aging naturally well.

Plastic surgeon Dr. Sherrrell J. Aston says, “In my opinion it does not look like Ben Stiller has had any plastic surgery.  He looks like he has taken good care of his skin, and exercises regularly.”

Dr. Paul S. Nassif, a Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeon and Rhinoplasty Specialist in Beverly Hills, Calif., said, “Ben Stiller looks to be aging gracefully, without the help of plastic surgery.”

Whatever Ben Stiller’s doing, he’s doing it right, as the results are excellent and have made him more handsome now than ever.

After becoming popular back in 1998 in the gross-out comedy There’s Something About Mary, Ben, and has his new look, has graduated to become a successful box office star, and he is currently starring in Night at the Museum: Battle of the Smithsonian, the follow up to Night at the Museum.  Catch Ben Stiller and his plastic surgery procedures in theatres now.

Kim Kardashian’s Stepdad Bruce Jenner Gets Plastic Surgery Revision

Posted on May 26th, 2009 in Awful/Bad Plastic Surgery, Celebrity Plastic Surgery, Male Plastic Surgery by Lisa Stern

It seems that former Olympic athlete Bruce Jenner and stepdad to Kim Kardashian and her sisters has gotten tired of making the list of worst celebrity plastic surgery and has decided to go under the knife again.

Bruce Jenner, Plastic Sugery

59-year old Bruce is the stepfather of the the Kim Kardashian clan and is probably the family member that Kim had hinted would be going under the knife soon (See Make Me Heal’s story on the Kardashian family Gets More Plastic Surgery).

Just as she had teased that “Someone in the Kardashian family will soon have plastic surgery,” Kim was also the Kardashian who spilled the beans on which family member she was talking about: step-father Bruce.

Bruce Jenner was formerly part of Make Me Heal’s lineup on male celebrities with bad plastic surgery for the overly tight facelift and over-aggressive rhinoplasty, which gave him a feminine appearance (See Make Me Heal’s story on Bad Male Plastic Surgery).

 Bruce Jenner, Bad Plastic Surgery

On her blog, Kim said, “”Twenty five years ago, Bruce was ill-advised by a doctor to have a partial facelift and a nose job. Unfortunately, the result wasn’t what Bruce had hoped for and for years since then he has been the victim of cruel taunts from the media. Since he’s turning 60 in October, Bruce felt it was time to correct the mistakes made by the previous doctor so he went to a new doctor for a second facelift. The results are amazing! Bruce looks better than ever and he is extremely happy with the result.”

To correct Bruce’s awful plastic surgery, New York plastic surgeon Dr. David Shafer says, “Based on the photos, Bruce would benefit from a facelift and neck lift. He has redundant submental skin distorting his jaw and neck line.”

Because Bruce’s previous plastic surgery was so aggressive, his surgeon would have to tread carefully this time to keep his appearance youthful, but not overdone.

Plastic surgeon Dr. Sherrell J. Aston says, ” Bruce Jenner is a perfect example of what can happen with a partial facelift. The cheeks are tight and the neck is sagging. This can only be corrected with a full facelift and neck lift. The platysma muscle in the neck is sagging; there is some fat and excess skin. He can get an excellent result by a master facelift surgeon. His brows are a little low but I would just do the Face/Neck lift procedure so as to not make him look done. His previous rhinoplasty can also be improved significantly.”

Photos of Bruce’s new look are out, and the results are much improved. His “new” face doesn’t appear nearly as tightly pulled as it did formerly.

Facial plastic surgery expert Dr. Paul S. Nassif says, “I know the surgeon who did Bruce Jenner’s revision facelift. He did a great job making it look more natural and less pulled. To revise a facelift, you have to change the direction of pull, make it a more vertical lift and not as tightly pulled. Cheers to his new facelift!”

While Bruce may never be restored to his former glory, it’s gratifying to see that he is finally happy with the results of his plastic surgery and hopefully, this will be it for his time under the knife.

Christian Slater Overdoses On Botox Injections

Posted on May 22nd, 2009 in Celebrity Plastic Surgery, Male Plastic Surgery by Ruby Marr

Christian Slater used to be a Hollywood bad boy, landing him in the tabloids as often as jail. Now it’s his possible tinkering with plastic surgery that’s making headlines.

Christian Slater, Cosmetic Surgery

At 39-years old, Christian Slater seems to have reformed his bad boy ways, but his famous eyebrows look more arched than ever, thanks to some Botox and his notoriously receding hairline.

Facial plastic surgery expert Dr. Paul S. Nassif says, “I don’t think that Christian Slater has had any invasive surgery. He may have had forehead Botox, as his forehead is very smooth and his medial eyebrows are low. I think his receding hairline matches his face. He should not have any treatment for lowering his hairline, nor hair transplant surgery.”

While views are mixed as to whether or not Christian should help his receding hairline by getting some hair transplants, one thing is certain, he needs to stay away from the Botox injections which are accentuating his forehead and brows, giving him an almost feminine appearance.

New York plastic surgeon Dr. David Shafer says, “Christian looks like he has had too much Botox - his medial brows are down and his lateral brows appear asymmetric. He may benefit from hair transplantation to help his large forehead and receding hairline.”

While Christian is a talented actor, his face looks nearly frozen into place from his Botox use.

Plastic surgeon Dr. Sherrell J. Aston says, “I suspect the Christian Slater is using heavy doses of Botox to achieve such a frozen appearance. In my opinion he looks a little unnatural and too feminine. I would advise him to give the injectables a rest for a while.”

While Christian may not be as popular as he was back in the 90s, look out for him Lies & Illusions, due out later this year.

Did Billy Bob Thorton Freshen Up with Plastic Surgery?

Posted on May 18th, 2009 in Celebrity Plastic Surgery, Male Plastic Surgery by Jet H. Ross

Since his role in Sling Blade, which earned him an Oscar, Billy Bob has drawn as much attention for his personal life as he has for his acting skills. Although he remains a controversial character, the 54 year old ex-husband of Angelina Jolie is looking better than ever, possibly thanks to some plastic surgery.

Billy Bob Thornton, Plastic Surgery

Married 5 times, most notably to actress Angelina Jolie, a plastic surgery fan herself( see Make Me Heal’s story on Angelina Jolie’s plastic surgery), Billy Bob seems to have revitalized at least his looks, if not his career.

Recently drawing ire from Canadians after calling them boring, Billy Bob has gone through some non-boring changes of his own.

Darkening his hair color and getting some hair transplants helped Billy Bob get rid of his ever-present hat. He may have also had some facework to help freshen up a bit, but it was conservative and well done enough to leave even expert plastic surgeons wondering just why Billy Bob is looking so well.

Plastic surgeon Dr. Sherrell J. Aston says, “Billy Bob Thorton looks great. An apparent change is in his hair pattern and color. Prior to surgery Mr. Thorton always wore a hat, which covered his baldness and gray hair. Now he is looking more confident than ever. His hair transplant doctor did a good job. He may have had some facial procedures but it is hard to confirm from the photos I have seen.”

Although Billy Bob is looking refreshed, he could always look even better with some non-invasive plastic surgery, like Botox injections.

New York plastic surgeon Dr. David Shafer says, “It is not clear whether Billy Bob has had a facelift or just a clean shave and good skin care. He could use some Botox Cosmetic around his eyes and his forehead to freshen up his look.”

While Billy Bob may never have a calm personal life, his skincare regime, whatever it is has certainly helped to soften him up.

Plastic Surgery At The Movies: Matthew McConaughey, Jennifer Garner, Beyonce, Tom Hanks

With summer blockbusters just around the corner, Make Me Heal takes a look at some of the plastic surgery currently playing in theaters, before the studios bring out the big releases.

Matthew McConaughey, Hair Transplants

New father Matthew McConaughey is known for his killer abs and receding hairline. In his new movie, Ghosts of Girlfriends Past, both are readily on display.

Matthew McConaughey has long struggled with hair loss (See Make Me Heal’s story on Matthew McConaughey’s Hair Transplant), but recently, it has been looking better than ever.

Hair restoration expert Dr. Alan Bauman reveals, “Matthew’s hair has been on the rebound for a while now. Publicly, to my knowledge, he’s denied surgical intervention and equates the regrowth to a magical topical potion. However, physicians will agree, nothing grows hair on bald skin except hair transplantation. Even Propecia, which works 90% of the time, is designed for the long haul… keeping the hair you have, NOT re-growth of the hairline. Contrary to popular opinion, today’s hair transplant procedures can be performed comfortably, reliably and efficiently. Not to mention, undetectably. This means that the transplanted hairlines of today, if performed with an “artistic eye,” can mimic the feathery, wavy randomized look of a natural hairline—(i.e. NOT â€pluggy’). And because the transplanted hair is living and growing (also permanent, by the way), he can shampoo, wash, cut, swim, etc., all without the hassle and maintenance of a hairpiece—which would be an artificial solution to the hair loss problem. Advanced minimally-invasive techniques, like the FUE (Follicular-Unit Extraction) performed with devices like the NeoGraft, also allow for procedures that require no scalpel, no stitches and leave no linear scar give hair transplant patients more options for hair-styling. FUE procedures allow the surgeon to extract hair follicles or groups of follicles individually, without a linear harvest.”

Matthew McConaughey, Hair Transplants

New York plastic surgeon Dr. David Shafer says, “It sure looks like Matthew has more hair now than he did in the past. It is a nice result.”

It also looks like Matthew McConaughey may have dabbled in Botox and facial fillers, as his face looks wrinkle-free considering all the time he spends frolicking in the sun.

Jennifer Garner, Cosmetic surgery

Jennifer Aniston, Plastic Surgery

Matthew’s leading lady in the romantic comedy is actress Jennifer Garner, as famous for her large lips as her breakthrough role on the TV series Alias. (See Make Me Heal’s story on Jennifer Garner’s lip augmentation). Although many believe Jennifer’s lips to be naturally large, some evidence supports the theory that she has used fillers of some kind to augment them.

Beyonce Knowles, Cosmetic Surgery

On the other side of romance, is the thriller, Obsessed, starring obsessed plastic surgery fan, Beyonce Knowles (See Make Me Heal’s story on Beyonce Knowles’ plastic surgery). Since breaking out as the lead singer of Destiny’s Child, Beyonce has reportedly undergone several cosmetic surgery procedures, including a nose job, breast augmentation and liposuction.

Beyonce Knowles, Cosmetic Surgery

Angels & Demons premieres this week, starring Tom Hanks and his notoriously fluctuating hairline (See Make Me Heal’s story on Tom Hanks’ hair transplants).

Tom Hanks, Hair Restoration

Dr. David Shafer notes, “Tom has an unusual hair line, if he has had hair transplants, then he might want some more to achieve a natural look.”

In the follow-up film to the Da Vinci Code, Tom Hanks once again runs around the world as Robert Langdon, bad hair and all.

Dr. Bauman explains, “When it comes to Tom’s ever-changing â€do’—it appears he’s been through a potpourri of some bizarre styles and even hairpieces over the years. The main aesthetic problem, however, seems to be that there’s a significant loss of the “temporal point” which has not been addressed. This area is critical to the â€frame’ of the face and the lack of restoration of that area is usually a dead-giveaway that something is awry.

“The good news is that this area does not require a large amount or density of grafts, so it is a big â€bang for the buck’ when it comes to using the precious donor supply of hair. Most patients do not realize the aesthetic importance of this area, mainly because they are viewing themselves from straight on most of the time.

Tom Hanks, Hair Restoration

“In 1993, you can see he had A LOT more of his temporal point left than today. You can even see the miniaturized hair at the hairline, which was fading at that time.

“When the miniaturization at the hairline is noticeable, that’s the time to take action with non-invasive treatments like Propecia, Minoxidil or Laser Therapy. These are treatments that can help slow and stop the progression of hair loss, so smaller or fewer sessions of transplantation are needed over time.

“In the past, when describing Tom’s hair, you mentioned strip grafts and mini-grafts. These techniques are outdated by about 10 years.

“Most hair transplants today (except for extremely rare cases) are performed using FUT (follicular-unit transplant) techniques—grafts that contain one, two or three hairs, only. Any transplanted grafts larger than that run the risk of looking pluggy. Also, whether the technique used is FUT (follicular-unit transplant) using a strip-harvest or FUE (follicular unit extraction–individually harvesting hair from the back of the scalp) the â€grafts’ you get are essentially the same: one, two or three hair follicles each.”

Jennifer Aniston, Plastic Surgery

Another actress known for her hair, albeit in a positive way, is actress Jennifer Aniston. Starring in the comedy, Management, Jen is best known for bringing the world, “The Rachel” haircut. Jennifer has also spent her share of time in the plastic surgeon’s office (See Make Me Heal’s story on Jennifer Aniston’s plastic surgery), undergoing rhinoplasty procedures to supposedly correct a deviated septum, as well as cellulite treatments.

Jennifer Aniston, Plastic Surgery

With so much plastic surgery on the big screen, Make Me Heal looks forward to another summer of celebrity plastic surgery hits and misses.

Does Mel Gibson Need Plastic Surgery To Match His New Young Girlfriend?

Posted on May 7th, 2009 in Celebrity Plastic Surgery, Male Plastic Surgery by Dana Jackson

After being half of one of the longer lasting marriages so rare in Hollywood, controversial actor Mel Gibson is finally getting a divorce and has a new trophy, remarkably younger girlfriend. Make Me Heal thinks the bigoted Braveheart actor may want to get some plastic surgery to keep up with his new lady love who herself looks like a fan of plastic surgery.

Mel Gibson, Plastic Surgery

53-year old Mel was married to Robyn Moore for almost 30 years before his recent split. Now, the troubled actor has been spotted on the red carpet with Oksana Grigorieva, a 39-year old Russian singer, with a contract with Mel’s Icon recording label.

39-year old Oksana has been around the entertainment industry for years and has a 12-year old son with former James Bond star Timothy Dalton. All her time in Hollywood has probably left Oksana with some of Hollywood’s feeling for plastic surgery.

Oksana has full lips and wrinkle-free skin, which means she could be dabbling in some lip and facial fillers, like Restylane and Juvederm or even had a nose job. On the other hand, she could also just be fortunate to have naturally full lips and take really good care of her skin. Oksana may have more plastic surgery in the future as well, and just be dabbling in injectables to get started.

Mel Gibson and his new girlfriend

New York plastic surgeon Dr. David Shafer tells Make Me Heal, “It is hard to tell if Oksana has had much plastic surgery since there are not many pictures over time of her. However, at first glance, her nose looks like it has had some work.”

Plastic surgeon Dr. Sherrell J. Aston says, “Mel Gibson was recently seen at a film premier with his new girlfriend Oksana Grigorieva, a beautiful Russian musician. I sense that she has had plastic surgery to enhance her looks. Her nose is well defined and her profile displays a slight upturn. She might have had a chin implant to balance out the proportions of her face as well. I think her lips look very unnatural and she might have had a permanent implant placed or excessive fillers.”

With Oksana looking so good, Mel might want to have some work of his own done. His face has aged considerably and a facelift could help with a lot of the deep wrinkles and folds of his skin. A blepharoplasty would help reduce the bags around his eyes, although it would have to be very well done to avoid looking overly feminine.

Plastic surgeon Dr. John Di Saia says, “Mel will be getting a facelift at some point. His gal is probably minimally altered at this point, but that may change of course.”

Dr. Shafer reports, “Mel has great features and really does not need any surgery. He might want to consider a little Botox Cosmetic around the eyes and forehead, just to freshen up his appearance.”

Despite all his problems with his personal life and the scandalous anti-semetic comments he made, Mel seems to be recovering his public persona nicely and will be starring in a new film later this year.

Is Michael Jackson Considering More Plastic Surgery?

In the decade, Michael Jackson has become more known for his plastic surgery addiction than his music. So it was with much alarm that Make Me Heal learned that the King of Pop is planning to have more plastic surgery for his upcoming comeback series of concerts in London.

Michael Jackson, Rhinoplasty

50-year old Michael Jackson has had a tumultuous personal life, but that is nothing compared to the havoc that a plastic surgeon’s knife has wreaked on his face. In the past, Michael has notoriously gone through several rhinoplasty procedures, the last of which was done as a repair. A German doctor reportedly took cartilage from Jackson’s ear to place inside his nose to repair deterioration caused by years of multiple nose jobs. Michael’s nose is now said to be fine, although it previously teetered on the brink of collapse.

In addition to the rumored countless nose jobs, Michael has reportedly also had cheek implants, a smaller jaw as well as a a skin lightening procedure.

After all the work, Jackson is now said to want to have even more plastic surgery, despite it making him look nearly unrecognizable from his days with the Jackson 5.

According to the rumor mill, “Jackson wants to go under the knife again, according to biographer Ian Halperin. He says, Michael has consulted some of the world’s best cosmetologists and surgeons in preparation for this comeback.

On his blog Dr. Anthony Youn responds to the report saying, “That’s a BAD idea. The only plastic surgery he should consider having is corrective plastic surgery. At least it looks like the alleged MRSA infection he may or may not have had is gone.”

Hopefully he decides not to have any more work done and can someday be happy with the Man in The Mirror.

Plastic surgeon Dr. Paul S. Nassif says, “Michael Jackson doesn’t have anything left to do in the way of plastic surgery.”

If Michael Jackson were to get any surgery, Make Me Heal anticipates that he will get facial plastic surgery, including possible fat transplantation to his face to make it look more youthful and plump, fillers to smooth out wrinkles, and possible eyelid surgery to get rid of any signs of aging around the eyes.

Manhattan plastic surgeon Dr. David Shafer says, “Michael Jackson is obviously no stranger to plastic surgery.  Hopefully his tissues have had plenty of time to recuperate since the last time he went under the knife.  He should leave what is left of his nose alone.  If anything, he may benefit from fillers or gaining some weight to help bulk up his gaunt looking face. “

Indeed it seems that Michael should be practicing to be onstage again, not focusing on his appearance as it has gotten him into a great deal of trouble in the past. His retirement shows (and comeback) is set to begin this July with a series of 10 concerts at London’s O2 Arena, being called This is It.

At a press conference, Michael said, These will be my final shows performing in London. “This Is It” really means this is it.

Plastic Surgeon Dr. Sherrel J. Aston says, “Michael Jackson has finally healed from having had  many plastic surgery procedures in the past. Remember when he was wearing a bandage on his nose? He should not have any plastic surgery ever again. He will make a dramatic comeback if he just concentrates on his music.”

Make Me Heal enjoys the legendary performer and hopes he eventually feels secure enough to go out without the mask and without the plastic surgery.

Did Nicolas Cage Knowingly Have Plastic Surgery?

Posted on April 10th, 2009 in Celebrity Plastic Surgery, Male Plastic Surgery by Erica Hurtz

Nicolas Cage has been a Hollywood favorite since he starred as the kid from the other side of the hill in the 1983 film Valley Girl. But after his turn in Face/Off, many wondered if Nic has really had plastic surgery.

Nicolas Cage, Plastic Surgery

(Left: Before, RIght: After)

At 45, Nicolas Cage is still good-looking enough to attract significantly younger women, like his current wife, 24-year old Alice Kim. Many actors begin having plastic surgery in their 30s, to ward off the appearance of aging that is likely to occur in their 40s. However, Nicolas seems to be facial-filler free, but he likely takes good care of his skin.

Manhattan plastic surgeon Dr. David Shafer says, “Nicolas Cage’s most recent photos do not look much different to me than his images in previous years. He does not have a “Botox Look.” He does have a better skin tone and looks well rested.”

However, just because Nic hasn’t been under the knife lately, doesn’t mean he hasn’t had plastic surgery in the past. Many actors have a nose job early in their careers and Nicolas may be a prime example of this. Nicolas has also been fighting a receeding hairline for sometime and covers it up using a series of hairpieces, like fellow thespian Jeremy Piven. (See Make Me Heal’s story on Jeremy Piven’s hairloss).

According to Paul S. Nassif, a Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeon and Rhinoplasty Specialist in Beverly Hills, Calif., “Nicolas Cage may have had a rhinoplasty a long time ago, as his nose appears to be a little pinched. He could also benefit from hair transplant surgery or a better hairpiece.”

Whatever the secret to Nicolas Cage’s youthful appearance he certainly looks great in his latest film, Knowing.

Did Sports Writer Bob Ryan Have Plastic Surgery?

Posted on March 27th, 2009 in Awful/Bad Plastic Surgery, Celebrity Plastic Surgery, Male Plastic Surgery by Ruby Marr

Sports fans everywhere have been puzzling about the altered appearance of sports writer Bob Ryan. Although mainly known for his column, Bob occasionally appears on television to lend his expertise. It seems that he got carried away trying to look good for the camera and ended up with some bad plastic surgery.Bob Ryan, Plastic Surgery
(Before)

Never a looker, 63-year old Bob has recently taken on a very odd appearance, with his swollen-looking lips and overly arched brows. His entire face has a preternaturally pulled appearance, indicating a possible over-zealous facelift, browlift and either an allergic reaction or lip fillers, which are unusual for a man.

Bob Ryan, Plastic Surgery
(After)

New York City plastic surgeon Dr. David Shafer says, “Comparing the most recent photo of Bob Ryan to previous images, Bob’s eyebrows appear elevated and peaked in their center. Due to the lack of evidence of incisions one may suspect an endoscopic brow lift. However the unnatural kink in the center of each brow leads to the suspicion of a thread brow lift. I don’t know what’s going on with his lips. It is either a bad allergic reaction or some overzealous injections. Hopefully they will look better when the swelling goes down.”

Bob’s new appearance draws comparisons to clowns, with his over-inflated lips, and other victims of bad plastic surgery.

Dr. Paul S. Nassif, a Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeon and Rhinoplasty Specialist in Beverly Hills, Calif., says, “It looks as though he’s had a brow lift, facelift, lips injected with a filler. He looks pulled, unnatural and absolutely fake. Like Burt Reynolds.”

Male plastic surgery, especially around the eyes, can leave men with a somewhat feminine appearance like Kenny Rogers. Men usually don’t use lip fillers because they too can look somewhat feminine.

Some sources have attributed Bob’s new appearance to a dermatological procedure to prevent cancer, although it is unclear how that would affect his appearance so drastically.

Make Me Heal thinks that until his plastic surgery settles in, or his allergic reaction dissipates, it is best if Bob sticks to writing his commentary rather than going live.

Plastic Surgery for the 2009 Best Actor Oscar Nominees

The Best Actor Nominees for the 2009 Oscar ceremonies cross a wide range of the plastic surgery spectrum. From those that use plastic surgery judiciously to look better, like Brad Pitt, to those that overdone, like Mickey Rourke, Make Me Heal takes a look at all the Best Actor nominees and their procedures.

Richard Jenkins has been nominated for his first Oscar at age 61 for his work in The Visitor. Although the tall man has never been known for his stunning good looks, they could still be improved, even though Richard is new to plastic surgery. Aging has left Richard with baggy eyelids and extreme hair loss, both of which could be corrected with plastic surgery.

Richard Jenkins, Plastic Surgery

Facial plastic surgery expert, Dr. Paul S. Nassif tells Make Me Heal, “Richard Jenkins could use some Botox, but he definitely needs his eyes done. He probably can’t see out on the outside aspects of his eyes, due to his heavy eyelids.  The heavy lids are causing what is called “hooding out” near the corners. The skin is folding over his upper eyelid, almost blocking vision.”

In addition to some eyelid plastic surgery, Richard could also conquer his hair loss by undergoing hair restoration. Hair loss expert Dr. Alan Buman says, “Richard Jenkins is a ‘Norwood Class 7′ (7 out of 7), an extensive pattern of hair loss.   Any degree of restoration of his own living and growing hair would have to proceed with careful planning in order to achieve a satisfactory result. Unlike old-style ‘plugs,’ we used a process that involves the transplantation of single follicle grafts for the frontal hairline and groups of two or three hair follicles to create density farther back.   Adding a randomized, natural design to the hairline gives a 100% undetectable look.” (See Make Me Heal’s story on Richard Jenkins’ plastic surgery).

71-year old Frank Langella, nominated for his work in Frost/Nixon, could also benefit from hair restoration.

Frank Langella, Plastic Surgery

According to Dr. Bauman, “Frank Langella is a ‘Norwood Class 5′ (out of 7), so he’s also already experienced severe hair loss over the course of his life.   If enough donor hair is available in the back of the scalp, this could be transplanted into the thinning and balding areas to eventually give coverage and restore the look that was only previously possible with a thick hairpiece that he used in Frost/Nixon.   It is important to understand that transplanted hair densities do not have to be equal to the original density in order to give coverage to the scalp.”

In addition, Frank could tighten up his appearance with some plastic surgery. Plastic surgeon Dr. Sherrell J. Aston says, “Frank Langella has not had any plastic surgery. He is a good candidate for a facelift and upper and lower eyelid blepharoplasty. His neck is quite loose and he has significant jowling.  His upper and lower lids are very heavy and full. He is at the stage where a properly done procedure would not look like surgery but surely maintain the roles he can play in the future.”

Dr. Nassif agrees that while Frank has never previously had plastic surgery, he could benefit from some, “Frank Langella is aging nicely, it looks good on him, like a Sean Connery-type. Maybe an upper eyelid lift and lower blepharoplasty to remove the little fat bags could help him look better.” (See Make Me Heal’s story on Frank Langella’s plastic surgery).

48-year old Sean Penn is up for his fifth Academy Award for his role in Milk and it will be his second Oscar if he wins. Although Sean has never been under the knife before, it could help restore him to his “Fast Times at Ridgemont High” Spicoli days. His large nose makes him an obvious candidate for a rhinoplasty, but he more imminently needs anti-aging treatments, like Botox.

Sean Penn, Plastic Surgery

Dr. Nassif says, “Sean Penn definitely hasn’t had any work done in the past, especially not a nose job, because it is still very large. Penn could benefit from a browlift and upper blepharoplasty. Botox to forehead and around the eyes (crow’s feet and glabella (between the eyes), would also help.”

Plastic surgeon Dr. Jennifer Walden says, “Sean Penn hasn’t had anything done, but he would look nice with a well-done rhinoplasty. That being said, a surgeon would have to be nuts to operate on him because it would likely change his trademark look so much that we would miss the old Sean Penn that has been on the screen for so long.”

45-year old Brad Pitt has received his second Oscar nomination for his role in The Curious Case of Benjamin Button. Brad has been a sex symbol since his breakthrough role in Thelma & Louise and so, while he doesn’t need any major surgery, he could use some anti-aging treatments to keep him looking good.

Brad Pitt, Plastic Surgery

Dr. Nassif says, “Like his co-nominees, Pitt could have his eyes done. He also has acne scarring from what I recall, which could be helped with some Fraxel or IPL.”

Also noting his good looks, Dr. Walden tells Make Me Heal, “Brad Pitt is a very handsome man who may have undergone a skin-resurfacing procedure or fillers, but I think he doesn’t even needs to do those things to age gracefully. Pitt is the caliber of Robert Redford or Paul Newman when it comes to natural good looks and acting talent, and neither of those men ever need(ed) a thing done!”

Weighing in on the father of six, plastic surgeon Dr. Anthony Youn says, “The one plastic surgery that a man as good looking as Brad Pitt can consider is facial fat grafting.  As he has aged, his face has become more gaunt as the fat has disappeared.  This is most evident in his cheeks and under his eyes.  Injecting some fat into these areas can give his face a softer appearance and bring him back to looking more like his ‘A River Runs Through It’ days.  Oh, and he can shave that heinous 70s mustache too…” (See Make Me Heal’s story on Brad Pitt’s plastic surgery).

Unlike his co-nominees, 52-year old Mickey Rourke has had more than enough plastic surgery for all of the Best Actors. Nominated for his role in The Wrestler, Mickey has gone under the knife several times, to the count of at least one facelift, possible chin, cheek and lower lip implants and possible multiple nose jobs. All plastic surgeons and Make Me Heal agree, the best thing Mickey can do now is to stay away from plastic surgery to ensure his bizarre appearance doesn’t get any worse. (See Make Me Heal’s story on Mickey Rourke’s plastic surgery).

Make Me Heal is pleased to see some of these veteran actors finally getting recognized for their work and looks forward to seeing how all the men clean up for the red carpet.
