Did Halle Berry Get A Plastic Surgery Mommy Makeover?

Posted on April 30th, 2008 in Celebrity Plastic Surgery by Sam Stets

Although Halle Berry is notoriously hard to read when it comes to plastic surgery, never actually admitting that she’s been under the knife, as Make Me Heal has previously reported on Halle Berry’s breast augmentation and nose job (read the full story on Halle Berry’s breast augmentation and Halle Berry’s nose job). One of the latest Hollywood stars to give birth, Make Me Heal is now wondering if the Oscar-winning actress may have gotten in on the Mommy Makeover trend and had plastic surgery to help her recover her pre-baby figure.

Halle Berry, Breast Lift, Liposuction

Halle Berry may have gotten liposuction right after giving birth to her daughter to help her more quickly regain her pre-pregnancy shape. A mere six weeks after becoming a mom, 41-year old Halle has recently appeared at red carpet events, looking fit and happy. Her breasts also seem extra perky, indicating that she may have had a breast lift as well. While a tummy tuck may seem a bit aggressive for someone of Halle’s normal body proportions, this is a small possibility although we doubt she would opt for this procedure and gain a hip-to-hip scar along her bikini line instead of losing the weight naturally. Most likely, though, if Halle Berry did go under the knife, it would be one of those quick downtime liposuction procedures such as Smartlipo or Vaser LipoSelection.

On the other hand, Halle is still sticking to high waist, flowing dresses that partially conceal her usually fit shape, so it is hard to tell if she has indeed undergone plastic surgery or has simply worked out extensively to regain her notoriously fit figure as soon as possible.

Whether it’s a matter of a nip here or tuck there or just dedicated diet and exercise, Make Me Heal looks forward to Halle’s return to the big screen later this year.

Is Plastic Surgery in Miley Cyrus’s Future?

Posted on April 29th, 2008 in Celebrity Plastic Surgery by Lisa Stern

Fans of the Hannah Montana TV show may have noticed that star Miley Cyrus has been smiling a little brighter lately. But Make Me Heal wonders if new veneers are just the start of a plastic surgery future in the popular young star’s blossoming career.

Miley Cyrus, Teeth Veneers, Tooth

Make Me Heal has observed that Miley’s smile has gotten significantly whiter and her teeth noticeably more straight and even in the past few months. Michael D. Kosdon, D.D.S., a Burbank, Calif.-area dentist has also noted the transformation, saying, “It looks as though she’s had some porcelain veneers put on her front teeth. And her small incisors appear to have been covered to make them look longer and more balanced with the rest of her mouth.” Veneers are often just the starting point for stars wanting to improve their appearance.

Miley is no stranger to using artifice to change her appearance as the singer/actress regularly dons a blonde wig to portray her alter ego Hannah Montana and likely wears a hair weave to achieve her thick locks in her everyday life.

In light of Miley’s controversial photo shoot with renowned photographer Annie Leibovitz for Vanity Fair magazine, Make Me Heal thinks that the precocious 15-year old may also be considering breast implants in her future to help fill out the grown-up, sexy dresses she sports at red carpet events.

Miley Cyrus, Plastic Surgery, Cosmetic

The Vanity Fair photos came out just a few weeks after photos on the Internet appeared of someone who looks suspiciously like Miley posing in some very grown-up ways, showing a green bra and hanging onto a man. Miley’s image makeover from a Disney sweet girl to a hot, sexy starlet is likely to manifest in her getting some womanly curves through a breast augmentation.

Young stars also often undergo rhinoplasty (nose jobs) to further their careers and in light of Miley’s success, the singing sensation may be interested in a nose job in the future as well. The tip of Miley’s nose is fairly wide by Hollywood standards and she may want to consider narrowing it down so that it betters fit the current beauty aesthetic for celebrities. Also, Miley may also follow the path of other young stars such as Britney Spears, Lindsay Lohan, Jessica Simpson, and Megan Fox and get lip injections to augment her lips and make her pout more sexy (see related stories on Britney Spear’s Lip Injections, Lindsay Lohan’s Lip Augmentation, Jessica Simpson’s Lip Injections, Megan Fox’s Lip Injections).

Despite the recent controversy surrounding Miley Cyrus, Make Me Heal thinks she will continue to influence young girls and predicts that plastic surgery will intersect her future and probably those of some of her impressionable fans who copy her style.

Andrew Lloyd Webber & Ex-Wife In Tune With Plastic Surgery

Posted on April 29th, 2008 in Celebrity Plastic Surgery by Carrie Zender

They were the perfect couple: He composed and she sang his songs. British ex-couple Sir Andrew Lloyd-Webber and Sara Brightman may no longer love each other, but they share the same love for plastic surgery.

Andrew Lloyd Webber, Eyelid Surgery, Browlift

Sir Andrew Lloyd-Webber is currently appearing on American Idol where he is helping to mentor the remaining contestants. The British composer has never been the most attractive man, but in recent years, he has taken on a downright peculiar appearance. Some parts of his face look unusually tight and some look like they really do belong on the 60-year old man. Sir Andrew is beginning to look like the facially deformed hero of his famous work The Phantom of the Opera, with his wide-open eyes, the work of a possible blepharoplasty (eyelid surgery) and browlift (forehead lift), but an aging, drooping double chin.

Plastic surgeon Dr. Anthony Youn agrees, saying, “A person can look unusual if one part of his or her face is rejuvenated and younger-looking, while the rest of the face continues to look older” attributing to the half young/half old look to an “upper blepharoplasty, where the excess skin of his upper eyelids was removed. They look much more open now. This may have been combined with a browlift as well.”

This is the risk of plastic surgery when someone decides to address only one area of their face, as this can result in asymmetry in the overall appearance and lead one to look older in one area but younger in another. This is common in poorly executed plastic surgeries that leave the recipient of the surgery looking unnaturally young and old at the same time. A better approach for Sir Andrew would have been to focus on all the facial structures and address them all together.

Sir Andrew’s influence on his ex-wife, British singer Sara Brightman, doesn’t seem to have ended with their marriage and musical collaborations, as the 47-year old beauty also looks to have gone under the knife.

Sara Brightman, Botox, Laser Skin Resurfacing

Sara Brightman is best known for her collaborations with Sir Andrew, but has also found success in a solo career, focusing on combining her classically trained voice with elements of pop music. When Sara was married to the much older Sir Andrew, she had a nearly middle-aged appearance, with frizzy hair and wore loose fitting matronly clothes. Now, the singer has a younger boyfriend and looks much younger herself, with glowing skin and wearing snug-fitting clothes. The singer has admitted to having undergone liposuction in her twenties, as well as having a crown on a chipped tooth. It appears, though, that she also underwent a nose job in her younger years.

Sara attributes her youthful appearance to her move from Britain to Germany at the beginning of the 1990s. She has also said, “I was quite middle-aged when I was younger. I always felt older than my years, maybe because I was married to someone older.”

Geographic moves aside, Make Me Heal thinks that Sara may be leaving out some cosmetic procedures along the way to Germany. We suspect some form of laser skin resurfacing, like ActiveFX and possible dermal injections, like Botox, as the soprano seems to have remarkably smooth skin and only a few fine lines and crow’s feet around her middle-aged eyes. Moreover, Sara’s nose may have withstood a second nose job, as her tip appears more upturned than before.

Since their split in 1990, Sara seems to have undergone successful plastic surgery procedures, restoring her youthful appearance, and while Sir Andrew appears to have had some work done, it does not seem to have been especially successful in giving him an entirely natural appearance.

More Plastic Surgery for Heidi Montag?

Posted on April 28th, 2008 in Celebrity Plastic Surgery by Carrie Zender

She rounded out her nose. She rounded out her breasts. Now, “The Hills” reality-TV star Heidi Montag and feminist hero turned fashion designer reportedly wants to round out her rear as well with a buttock augmentation.

Heidi Montag, Butt Augmentation, Implats

The latest reality-TV celebrity to be bitten by the plastic surgery bug, Heidi Montag has been quoted as saying she wants buttock augmentation, with a friend reporting, “She has no butt. She doesn’t want to have plastic surgery, but she may have no choice… She’s still insecure about her body. She doesn’t want to be as big as Jennifer Lopez, but she does want a little more booty.”

The most popular way to perform buttock augmentation is with fat grafting or micro fat grafting that is combined with aggressive trunk liposuction (known as the Brazilian Buttock Augmentation). Alternatively, buttock augmentation can be performed with a silicone implant. The fat grafting procedure is more popular as it produces much more natural results in terms of the feel of the material and the long-term look of the shape. Since the fat that is harvested is the patient’s own natural tissue, the outcome is more natural. The procedure is done by first performing tumescent liposuction to collect fat, which is gently washed with a saline solution. The fat is then put into syringes and then grafted into the buttock using hundreds of passes through a tiny hollow tube into the tissues of the buttocks. Complications are rare and the procedure can take 3-8 hours.

When using an implant, an incision is made in any one of the following places: where the cheek meets the back of the thigh, or down the buttock crease. The incision is usually made in the buttock crease, where scars are not noticeable. However this area does carry a high infection risk. The doctor then makes a pocket to insert the implant, either on top of or under the muscle.

If Heidi gets a buttock augmentation, this wouldn’t be the first time she goes under the knife, Make Me Heal has previously reported on Heidi Montag’s breast augmentation and nose job (read the full story on Heidi Montag’s breast augmentation and Heidi Montag’s nose job). Although Heidi is the only character on The Hills to come clean about going under the knife, she’s not the only girl to take advantage of Hollywood’s close proximity to the plastic surgeons of Beverly Hills. Take a look at Make Me Heal’s opinions on the other girls on the show, including Lauren Conrad, Kristin Cavallari, and Audrina Partridge (read the article on Lauren Conrad & Audrina Partridge’s plastic surgery secrets).

While Make Me Heal thinks that Heidi’s surgeries so far have been successful and have helped her career and that her buttocks could use a little more bounce, we just hope the young starlet does not get carried away and become obsessed about fixing every imperfection and go down a never-ending spiral of plastic surgeries like some of her Hollywood colleagues.

Melissa’s Incredible Breast Augmentation & Tummy Tuck Makeover

Posted on April 25th, 2008 in Personal Stories of Real People by MakeMeHeal.com Staff

Tummy Tuck, Abdominoplasty, Photos

See Melissa’s Before & After Plastic Surgery Pictures Album.

29 year old Melissa (username: honeybee78) first wanted an abdominoplasty after her first baby in 1998. After three c-sections and a hernia, Melissa decided that it was time to get a full tummy tuck along with a breast augmentation. Two consults later, Melissa decided to go with Dr. James McAdoo in Rockford, Illinois who had done plastic surgery on her friends and who made her feel extremely comfortable. In March 2008, Melissa got 350cc’s of silicone to transform her 34B breasts into 34Ds. With the suggestion of Dr. McAdoo, Melissa chose a round high profile implant with transaxillary incision. Melissa found her recovery after her full tummy tuck easier than her c-sections but found her breast augmentation more painful than she expected. Her breasts are still dropping so she’s a little disappointed but Melissa is thrilled with her tummy tuck results. Melissa’s still recovering after her plastic surgery and has gotten great advice from her friends on the Make Me Heal message boards.

Melissa’s advice for anyone having plastic surgery is:

“Be patient and listen to your body. Over doing it is the worst thing you could do. Take your pain meds on time so the pain doesn’t get away from you. Most importantly everyone heals differently, don’t compare yourself to anyone else’s recovery just to your before pics.”

Please join us below with an interview with the lovely Melissa:

Make Me Heal: When did you first have the idea to have your procedure(s)?

Melissa: I first wanted the abdominoplasty in 1998 after having a 10lb baby. Then after my 3 c sections I really wanted it. Finally a hernia prompted the surgery, I didn’t want to get anymore of those!

Make Me Heal: What were your motivations (physical, emotional, social, etc.) behind your decision to have the procedure(s)?

Melissa: Physical and emotional. Physical because I knew without repairing the muscles I would continue to get hernias. Emotional because I felt truly disfigured.

Make Me Heal: How long did it take you to make a decision and was it an easy or difficult one to make?

Melissa: I decided to go through with it in less than 1 week after the hernia diagnosis.

Make Me Heal: Did your family, friends, and any other people in your close circle give you support, opposition, or did you make this decision without considering them?

Melissa: My husband was very supportive of my decision, however he said I didn’t need it to be beautiful in his eyes.

Make Me Heal: How did you research the procedure and come to decide on this particular procedure?

Melissa: I had been researching this for various years via the internet.

Make Me Heal: Please discuss if you used any of Make Me Heal’s resources such as the message boards, pictures library, doctor directory and doctor reviews, and any recovery and preparation products that you used.

Melissa: I use the message boards daily now that I am post op and love this site.

Make Me Heal: How did you come to choose your doctor?

Melissa: I had 2 different consults and chose this dr because of his price, how comfortable I felt with him and 2 of my friends had awesome work done by him.

Make Me Heal: Please discuss if you have any role in deciding the type of technique used for your surgery by the doctor, incision placements, implant brand, anesthesia type, etc.

Melissa: I trusted his judgement .. I only picked the size and the implant being silicone.

Make Me Heal: How did you prepare for the surgery?

Melissa: I flew in family to help with my children.

Make Me Heal: How were you feeling the night before the surgery and on the moments before the surgery itself?

Melissa: I wasn’t nervous at all only excited up to the night before. Then I became extremely nervous!

Make Me Heal: How was the recovery process? Please discuss what side effects you experienced? What were the worse parts of the recovery? Did anyone help you during the recovery?

Melissa: My husband helped me and other family helped take care of my kids. My recovery process for the abdominoplasty wasn’t as painful as my recovery from c sections. My breast aug however was the worst part, very painful.

Make Me Heal: Please discuss the pain or discomfort you experienced during the recovery?

Melissa: The abdominoplasty was a cake walk. My skin and muscles were tight but not painful. The breast aug however was extremely painful.

Make Me Heal: How well prepared were you for the recovery from physical, emotional, and mental respects?

Melissa: I looked through makemeheal.com and read others stories. I also viewed their post op pics to prepare myself for what I would look like.

Make Me Heal: What are your top recovery tips to other patients?

Melissa: Be patient and listen to your body. Over doing it is the worst thing you could do. Take your pain meds on time so the pain doesn’t get away from you. Most importantly everyone heals differently, don’t compare yourself to anyone else’s recovery just to your before pics.

Make Me Heal: How long did you take off from work? What did you tell your co-workers about taking this time off? Did anyone notice your cosmetic procedures at work and what did you tell them if they asked about it?

Melissa: I took off 3 weeks. I told everyone at work what I had done.

Make Me Heal: How happy are you with the results?

Melissa: I am completely happy with the abdominoplasty. My breasts are still dropping so I am a little disappointed with them.

Make Me Heal: How has your makeover impacted your life from personal, social, career, and other respects?

Melissa: I am a much happier person. I didn’t realize how much of an impact feeling disfigured had on my mental outlook.

Make Me Heal: Would you have done anything differently if you had the chance?

Melissa: No

Make Me Heal: What is your final word of advice to other people considering the procedure(s) you had?

Melissa: If you want this you should do it!!!

Make Me Heal: Was Make Me Heal beneficial to you along your journey?

Melissa: Yes I love the message boards and photos. They definitely help me see how things will be. I also feel that I have gotten a lot of great advice from all the wonderful people on this site!

See Melissa’s Before & After Plastic Surgery Pictures Album.

Jamie Lee Curtis Calls Plastic Surgery A Fraud

Posted on April 23rd, 2008 in Celebrity Plastic Surgery by Jet H. Ross

Ordinarily when Make Me Heal hears rumors of 49-year old actress Jamie Lee Curtis going under the knife, the stories are variations of possible sex-change operations. Now, Jamie has still has not addressed the rumors of being born a male, but has openly admitted to having had plastic surgery in the past.

Jamie Lee Curtis, Liposuction, Eyelid Surgery

The 49-year-old actress has revealed she underwent a blepharoplasty surgery on her lower eyes when she was 35, after a cameraman told her she was too “puffy” for him to shoot, and she has had work done since, including some admitted liposuction and Botox. Make Me Heal calculates that the liposuction happened around the time she did her famous striptease in the film True Lies.

Although her career has continued to thrive, Jamie Lee Curtis isn’t pleased with the results of her cosmetic surgeries, saying “I did it all but, you know what, it didn’t work. The fraud is it doesn’t work; it doesn’t work because there are complications, and I got them all. It doesn’t work because you still look in the mirror and you see the fraud of what you were trying to do.”

Jamie Lee Curtis, Blepharoplasty, Eyelid Surgery

Plastic surgeon Dr. John Di Saia says that some of the problems Jamie experienced could have been caused by her being too young for eyelid surgery, not having enough fat to remove for liposuction. Additionally, Jamie may have experienced complications from an admitted substance abuse problem in the past. People with addictions make for poor plastic surgery candidates and should stay away from the knife, as they are likely to have the wrong reasons to have plastic surgery and to be unhappy with the results.

Now, Jamie Lee Curtis says that women should grow old gracefully because people who do have some kind of plastic surgery rarely feel better about themselves afterwards. She says women considering plastic surgery need to think long and hard before engaging in an industry that sells “fraud” to make women think they will feel better about themselves after undergoing their procedures.

Make Me Heal is sympathetic that Jamie is not pleased with the results of her plastic surgeries and urges candidates to decide for themselves rather than follow the advice of celebrities, whether they are for or against plastic surgery. However, plastic surgery is not here to change your life on every level, nor treat emotional issues and make one feel better, as in the end it is treating your surface imperfections. As long as you know what you’re in for and have reasonable expectations of the outcomes and their impact on your life, you should not emerge as unhappy, disillusioned, and cheated as Jamie Lee Curtis feels.

Emilio Estevez Goes For Plastic Surgery

Posted on April 23rd, 2008 in Celebrity Plastic Surgery by Carrie Zender

Twenty years ago Emilio Estevez made film after film as part of the 1980’s “brat pack.” Now that the 45-year old actor is a director, spending time behind the camera rather than in front of it, the son of legendary actor Martin Sheen and brother of Charlie Sheen, has ironically had several plastic surgeries to change his appearance as he directs films rather than stars in them.

Emilio Estevez, Rhinoplasty, Nose Job

In the 1980’s, Emilio was at the top of his popularity, starring in movies left and right as the handsome hero. He no longer looks like his former youthful self and even plastic surgeon Dr. Anthony Youn has also taken note of his altered and awkward appearance.

As people age, their eyelids start to sag and the eyes puff out, but Emilio has hollows under his eyes, and very arched brows, giving him an extremely wide-eyed appearance, indicating a possible browlift. His nose also seems straighter and with a more rounded tip than his days in The Breakfast Club, indicating a potential rhinoplasty (nose job). Also, his cheeks are remarkably full for a middle-aged man, indicating the possible use of an injectable filler to add volume. Overall his appearance is nearly wrinkle-free, from the lack of furrows on his forehead to the lack of crow’s feet around the eyes and even less pronounced nasolabial folds (those are the smile lines that emanate from the corners of the mouth to the edges of the nose) than he had when he was in his 20’s, further indicating the use of injectable fillers such as Botox, Restylane, and Juvederm to iron out his wrinkles.

Make Me Heal can only hope that his future in both movies and plastic surgery come out better than his past attempts.
