Facelift -Friday, Jan 23, 2009. Three days later Dr. Rodrigo Araya took the bandages off my neck and there was an indent mark across it with dry blood. The doctor removed the scab that formed which left my skin with an open wound. I had left a phone message telling them the day of surgery and day after that my bandages felt too tight. They never returned my call, never checked up on me, and never gave me pain medicine. I still do not know what caused this. One doctor thinks he cut the flaps to thin, but I don't know for sure. The skin came off behind my ears and across the neck and I was left severely scarred.I returned to USA with open wound for 1 month. He would not do anything for a month then he put a skin graft on after I pleaded with him.
Unfortunately, when he put the skin graft on he cut my face and left a 2 inch scar on the left cheek. It is a long scar and it puckers which makes it more visible to others.
I should have learned from his first mistake.
Now, I need to find a doctor to do a scar revision. I am hoping this will make my scars less visible. I have been told that they will never go away. I am upset that someone can do this to someone and get away with it.
I want to share this, so others don’t pick someone that would do this to them.
I do not smoke, no health problems, no prior face lift surgery

From: | 2011-11-12 20:26:30 I had another scar revision 10/2011 and it helped the appearance slightly. I have gone to many doctors to get there advice on improving the scar and they said I need to wait a few more years before altering it again. Most of the doctors lecture me that I should not have gone outside of the United States for this and tell me I should tell others not to do this. The doctor that did this is well known in Costa Rica as a tourist’s surgeon and I found out later there were other people that had bad outcomes as well. It is hard to hide this and some people are pretty rude. Be cautious!

So as soon as the Gringo gets loaded up on a plane and over international waters, he is back practicing. This past January/February there was a lady that stayed at Las Cumbres. I WANT HER NAME AND I WANT IT BAD. She spent 2 weeks in the hospital in the ICU. She will have to fork that bill out of her own pocket. No way will insurance pay for any of that.

He is a skilled surgeon, his bedside manner is atrocious though. He gave me little to nothing for pain. I am finding out now that I was lied to about the pain meds, lied to about a patient that died, (he said she was at home at it was 2 1/2 weeks post op.....it was 2 hours post op) WHY WOLD SOMEONE LIE ABOUT THAT? Who knows? Maybe there are two people out there that died.
I have another person on another website and I am going to see if she will post to here. Huge hole in her head. She is willing to go on 20/20. I figure if they are willing to do this to you, they want you to show it off! SHOW IT TO THE WORLD GIRL!
The way you stop these people is by hitting them where it hurts.....their wallets. Costa Rica relies on the might tourism dollar.
You honestly look like an attempted murder victim. You look like someone tried to kill you and did not succeed.
Is there nobody down there that is willing to stop the "Butcher of San Jose"? This is now at least the 7th botched case that I know of this guy did. I saw one for myself. The woman had pus pouring out of her face, got MRSA, had Herpes on her lips, and permanent facial nerve damage.

From: | 2010-09-13 18:37:29 As of now, Dr. Rodrigo Araya lost all privilligaes at Internationally Acredited Cima Hospital in San Jose, Costa Rica. He is forbiden from doing any procedures at Cima but is still preforming them at very old Santa Lucia Hospital charging Cima's prices. Dr. Araya botched many surgeries lately including sending one patience to the grave. He is consider here very dengerous doctor and lots of people wonder how come he is still keeping his licence??? Costa Rican medical low should be changed to protect unsuspecting volunerable patience from so called "doctors" like Rodrigo Araya. In USA he would be in jail for his shamefull and unethical practice. He is not ASPS board certified as he claims to be. Please, stay away from this "doctor" if you want to stay alive. Anyway- I am so terribly sorry this happened to you. It makes me sad and angry...and puts a knot in my stomach. So they put the bandage on so tightly that the skin died underneath? That is crazy and that Dr should at the very least go out of business. You clearly didn't do this to yourself. Have you found someone to help you?

I had a lower face and neck lift and wounded myself with frozen peas. I made a little hole in my face and was mortified. Then I see your pictures and realize how absolutely tiny my wound is. I am so terribly sorry you are going through this. That Dr should be put in jail. I can't figure out how that could have happened- they put the bandage on so tightly that it killed the skin underneath?
Anyway- my thoughts and prayers are with you and there are a lot of us that care. I think the pictures just leave most people speechless.
How are you now? Have you found anyone to help you?
