For anyone else who experiences extreme dissatisfaction, do not wait a year for follow up, no matter what the doctor says. IN the U.S., the statute of limitations to sue a private hospital can be as little as 1 yr!

I knew drs say you shouldn't smoke if you are doing surgery but I didn't realize it could cause scars like that? Did the first dr talk to you about your smoking and potential complications?

I hope both of you have talked with a LAWYER - A LAWYER WHO HAD SUCCESSFULLY SUED PLASTIC SURGEONS!S/he should be able to refer you to plastic surgeons who can help you. SEE A LAWYER BEFORE YOU DO ANYTHING ELSE! Good luck, Chris

Hello! I did not approach my surgeon (who performed the surgery) after he was so uncooperative and dismissive. I now realize I could sue the hell out of him. My severe scars are due to smoking - as I now know. The nipple and anchor incision are very scarred due to "poor blood circulation and that nicotine kills healing tissue" according to my NEW plastic surgeon. I found a surgeon in Atlanta from looking at this website since I now live in Georgia and went in last week to get Botox. I showed her my scars and she insisted they were obvious smoking related scarring and that she could fix them! All I will need is a "Scar Revision" and it will cost me $3k. This doctor is so thorough and strict that I had to make sure to quit smoking before they would schedule my surgery and they will do pre-op labwork a week prior to make sure I don't have nicotine in my system (or they cancel surgery). I was so happy to have someone offer to help and the fact that it is at a reasonable price from a well respected surgeon, I'm set to go under the knife on February 26th, 2009!

Postopinga: I am going to make a derm apt. with my dr. to get his opinion I also may start taking free consultations with other P.Surgeons just to make sure everything that can be done, will be done. I'll keep you in the loop, please keep writing you are the first person to say that this has happened too.

Does anyone thinks this can be fixed? What can i do that i havn't done yet. Has anyone had this outcome and now, look "normal" or will i be botched... :(

postopinga: what ehnicity are you? I am latin decent. Ughhh i can't even wear a bathing suit, i would love to know more about your history, and journey. It makes me feel better as well. My doctor says he hasn't really seen this before... is your dr. proactive??? Oh, my Dr. first started by saying that he could probably fix a year from surgery, then it changed into a year from the day it heals... so frusterating.
scarsmcscarsonFrom: scarsmcscarson | 2009-12-28 14:08:05

Any Doctors out there, have any suggestions???
scarsmcscarsonFrom: scarsmcscarson | 2009-12-28 14:04:53

PLease e-mail me at windowsxs@hotmail.com I would love to chat with you. What has your dr. done so far... I am really curious to know! Are yours looking any better? What is your doctor tell you your scars are attributed to? Mine keeps insisting they are ice burns (which I highly doubt) because i hardly iced, and never did it without a thick towel. I don't know if you can get insurance to cover resonstructive surgeries, i doubt it though because it was an elective surgery. I will look in to it though.

My results are very similar to yours and you are the first person I have seen on the internet that is similar to me. It makes me feel better to see someone else out there had some trouble with scarring. I went through a greuling recovery - it took my brests 7 months to heal. I am now at 11 months post-op. I was told I should wait a year from the point of "healed" to have any revisions done so that there is enough new skin to make changes. Do you know if this type of reconstructive surgery is paid for with insurance? or am i going to have to reinvest thousands of dollars to fix what my doctor did to me? (Of course now I know how bad I am at healing!)

So far this is what they look like 7 months post op. Have been using cordran tape and scarless gel, to no avail, everyone keeps saying they look fine. I don't see anybodys on here that look like mine. E.g. Frankenboobes
They need to be fixed, and i am sooooo unhappy.
