My Personal Statement:
A few months ago I was taking my small son, age 6 , home from kindergarten, He turned to me and he said "mommy how come you look older then Andrias mom?". I am 53 with a 6 year old and a 2 year old. Late in life children. It didnt hurt my feelings for my son to ask me that. It made me wonder if someday he might be embarrased to have an older looking mommy then his other classmates. I adore my children. I would do anything for them. I know they love me just as I am. But because I started looking closer in the mirror that day, I saw that , yea, there were a few ugly lines under my mouth that I didnt like seeing. Then we went on vacation...and of all things.......a drunk Alaskan...I was sitting across from in a park while I had my baby daughter in a stroller beside me said .......you are really old arent you, like 60?I laughed, at first,because he was drunk, ya know, but then HE started talking about he was the same age as and he didnt have those ugly lines (marrionette lines) under his mouth. I looked and he didnt. I want to look good for me. That is it. My husband doesnt/didnt support me and the few friends I told about , thought I was nuts, I wanted it for me. SO,if you have anything that makes you unhappy or self concious about, like those lines made me, do it. Find a great surgeon and do it for you!! I hope in a few months my husband says........WOW! Im so glad you had the surgery honey!! And my son says.......mommy you are beautiful!!! Just like Andreas mom!!

Anyway, I wanted to say that you look absolutely great! Would you mind telling me where they put the endotines? I'm just learning about these things myself and got endotines places in my upper eyelid brows for a direct brow lift. Thanks!

I just turn 61, look younger and if my results are as good as yours I will be so very happy. I know it is a lot to go through but thank God we can have the face to help us feel better about ourselves. That neck has to go. Thanks for sharing. PJ

From: | 2007-06-11 12:52:01 Yes, Actually, I am wearing very little makeup in the photos. The eyebrows are actually my own. I have done the makeup counter and I am wearing all Lancome. I guess it is a matter of personal taste as frewtloop said. I actually had to give an interview after my dads funeral (he was a senator, retired) and the newspeople asked me if I had ever concidered Broadcast journalism , as they said I have the face for it!! I actually had concidered Broadcast Journalism, but in the end had to chose a different career. Due to time and children! But thanks to all for the comments, Like I said, if All I have to worry about are someone elses comments on my makeup then .........life is good! Shannon

I agree with Roccos comment in that we should wear less makeup as we get older although I wouldn't have have said you had too much on in those pics. Personal taste I guess. However it is good getting honest opinions from people because all too often our friends are not honest with us for fear of hurting our feelings.

My best friend died less then a month ago. I appreciate life and really dont care about the comment. I do think I wear to much makeup sometimes. I wouldnt mind a total make over. But , I had thiry year olds hitting on me this past weekend. SO, I guess Im not doing too bad. Rocco, you are fine. Really, I DONT mind the comment at all. You are sweet to offer the advice. I wouldnt mind a make over spa sort of day after the last couple months and this last week!! Along with several margaritas!!! Love you all for your sweet comments!! Shannon

As far as (Roccos)comment I think that was very rude.How dare she tell anyone what SHE thinks might look best on them.
Roccos,YOU might think you look natural but,that doesn't mean the person looking at you does!

From: | 2007-06-07 10:03:36 OMG your children are beautiful. and so are you. Not to be mean but I think you would look younger and fresher without so much makeup. the eyeliner, eyeshadow, lipstick and especially the eyebrows do age you.
Remember the older you are the LESS makeup you can get away with.
Go with a tinted sunscreen, very light use of concealer, lip stain rather than glossy lipstick, no mascara and lighten up on the eyeliner and eyebrow pencil.
don't go to the cosmetic counter for the 'makeover' -
this is just my opinion -
I too am an older mom - 55 with a 17 yr old. I spend alot of time applying my makeup to look like I'm not wearing any LOL
