Album DescriptionI would just like to thank Mr O'toole for all he has done for me,after my initial meeting with him i found him to be very friendly, warm and professional, honest too,i had in the past(20years)thought of having surgery for my microtia ear but wasnt happy with what was offered at the time, but as surgery has improved i decided to see what my options were,Mr O'toole fully explained my options and showed me pics and videos of what to expect,i fully trusted him,and even when i had a few complications, probably because i was older than most who have this op,i still had full trust in his skill and decisions,he didnt let me down,he as well as all the staff, really looked after me and did a great job on my ear,im really happy with the results and highly recommend Mr O'toole and his team,i had total confidence in everyone at the London royal free and wasnt let down, the trains gave me a few problems getting down from Yorkshire as there was the odd delay ect. Grand central was the best service,i had to arrive on my day of admission for my first op,my bed wasnt ready till the folliwing day but as i had to check in at 7:30am i had to stay at premier inn, that was £125 as i hadnt pre booked online, that was a shock but after i had mentioned about it to Mr O'toole(he wasnt happy about how much it had cost me and said his patients cant be expected to pay that out and cant arrive for 7:30 from long distances so need a bed ready) i didnt have any problems like that for my next ops,he was very nice about arranging my ops for later in the day,i dont think any other surgeons would be so caring and accommodation,he isnt stuck up like some are but is a great guy.
My other recomendations are, tell the docs if you have sickness from the morphine as they can give you something to stop it,also accept laxatives from the nurses as the constipation was the only problem i had,it caused my stomach to swell hurting my ribs which had been operated on,it also caused me to feel sick, but they took good care of me and i was soon able to go to the toilet ok.
Try to get moving a.s.a.p exercise helped me recover quicker,i used the stairs to get exercise both for recovery and to tire myself out so that i could sleep,as i found most people who are not active in hospital have difficulty sleeping, the stairs helped me to sleep.
I got out of bed the morning after my surgery, and tried to be active, despite my very painful ribs, they do ease after a few days and the nurse helped me up and the automatic beds help too.
Take plenty of reading matter too.
My experience was very good and enjoyable as much as can be expected while having surgery,as i said i was well looked after and the food was really nice too.
I really recommend Mr O'toole and cant thank him enough,i will always be grateful and will never forget what he has done for me.
I sent him a thankyou email recently and he even too the time to answer me personally and give me advice and support, thankyou again Mr O'toole and all the best for the future.
