Rhinoplasty...polly beak?

week 6

week 6

Album Description

I am concerned about the fact that i might be forming polly beak...after the cast came off...my heart stopped since my nose looked like it had been cut from the middle..the dr. said its due to swelling and stitches and said it will be alright. up to date it seems to be the same...can someone tell me does this look like pollybeak deformity? or once the swelling goes down it will look normal

Sometimes you get a dent in the middle like that when you have a perforated septum after rhinoplasty... Talk to your PS and ask if this is possible. Good Luck!

you'll need to wait anywhere from 6 months to 1 year to make any changes to your nose. who knows, maybe somehow the world will conspire and intervene on the healing & you wouldn't need a revision after all.

i highly recommend you wait 1 full year & do not worry, july '10 will come around before you know it. if you decide on 6 months, valentine's day is around the corner.

i recommend you keep yourself busy & not focus on your nose. if you won't -no one else will.

I feel your pain about feeling depressed and being disappointed with the outcome of your nose surgery. It may go down over time making the dent less visible too. I suggest you revisit your ps at the 3 month mark and discuss your concerns and see what he has to offer. Please keep me posted and keep yourself from focusing on your nose. If you don't focus on your nose, others won't focus on it.

but once the swelling goes down...will it look better? or its going to be still the same...this is very depressing :'(

Hi M. -I'm not too sure if what you have is a polly beak. After searching polly beak images on the net, I found that your new nose closely resembles an image I found known as: "The Scooped Out Bridge". Although your nose seems swollen at week 6, there is a visible dip above your tip. Now that we are on week 8, post a new pic to see the difference in swelling. -Narizon
