Last Updated: February 13th, 2008. Me Only Better (Process on the way...) I invite you to take a look around, make a comment if you like, or rate my profile...I would love to hear from you while I heal :D
Album DescriptionJanuary 1st, 2008 - What an incedrible way to start my new year! I can't believe the time has come -- my very own make over. I am soo excited, but as the days draw closer, I sometimes (for just a second) get a bit nervous/anxious LOL
About Me - I am 34 years old, a mother of 2, really struggled to loose the weight thro exercise, diet and medication...this is my last resort, and new lease on life! Like many of you, I am thrilled to have a second chance at being a better ME!
My TT surgery is 3 days away...I wanted to do a few more procedures, like lipo flanks and love handles etc. but PS is against the idea, he doesn't want me under general anes. more than 4 hours...so that concerns me...I hope the final result will be spectacular, and not a disappointment becoz of these other troublesome areas....
...anyways, tomorrow i have final bloodwork and chest xrays done...then on Friday, I meet PS one last time, before my big day!
January 2nd, 2008 - Tests went smoothly, I registered at the hospital (because of language barriers, wanted to make sure Saturday's check in would be smooth sailing!) --- that's me :D Mrs. Organized (hee heee)
January 3rd - Will do bulk grocery shopping today to cover the next few weeks, and will prepare some soups to freeze for myself -- might even make some dinners for the family, and fill up the big deep freezer I got this summer.
January 4th - One more sleep to my Big Day! Yay Yay Yay...(i hope i can doze off tonight)- met with PS earlier...talked about the details of surgery, he addressed all my last minute questions, asked me to increase my protein intake after Monday, proteins will help with the healing of the incision he says. We will be at hospital at 7am tomorrow, surgery will start around 9am!
January 5th - 9th -- Its done!!!! I had my FTT on Saturday!
PS says it went smoothly; he removed at least 6 lbs of skin and fat! Can you believe that!
I was released from hospital yesterday, but what a few days it has been! After the surgery, off course, i was extremely drowsy and soooo tired - I slept for the rest of the day...thank goodness for the IV painkillers, antibotics, and the catheter. I thought that if I moved, even slightly, I would snap like a twig! My abdomen was tight and the pain was incredible from above my privates to under my boobs, it was hell! I think giving birth to my babies was easier LOL.
Then came Sunday, and PS came to visit. He decided it was time to walk a bit, to get the blood circulation going. With a couple of nurses, my hubby and him, they were able to lift me into an upright position, and helped me stand up! OMG, my abdomen felt as hard and inflexible as a surfboard...really, I was going to break in half...the pain can only be described as a burning pain, one like when you do too many crunches times 6 million or something :) Eventually, it seemed like a half hour later, I began dragging one foot behind the other!
The drains are another inconvenience. Amidst the pain, you have to watch out for these tubes sticking out off your pubis, trying not to sleep on them, in fear of smooshing them, hence they cannot drain into their containers. My containers are huge, they like plastic martini shakers, accept you don't want to fill these up!
I got home yesterday...its nice to be in my bed -the family has been wonderful, its strange to be taken off, when it is usually me, taking care off them :D
I continue on a course of antibiotic pills and pain relievers (to be taken as neeeded) LOL - drinking lots of water and milk (for the protein), and eating regularly now.
Drains might come off on Thursday night, depending on the readings from the log I am keeping.
Can you believe, I have not seen the results yet! I was in so much pain when my dressings were changed, I could not lift my head to take a peek, and now, all I can see is a somewhat flatter belly than before...I will let you know soon when I get a closer look. I think it should be dramatic, seeing that 6 pounds was removed, but its hard to see with this tight corset around me, and the belly button and the hip to hip incision is covered under the dressings.
January 11th -- Its Day 5 and I am in SWELL HELL!!! I'm experiencing severe cramps from the slightest movement, and my lower back hurts from wearing the corset 24/7. Had my dressings changed this evening, when PS removed 2 of the band aids over the incision some skin came off too, very painful thing to happen...taking meds, and feeling really tired, so I will write some more another time...
January 17th - Its Day 12 already. I am fed up of this corset..it's tight, I feel itchy, and haven't slept well for a few nights. The dressings were removed, no drains now, so I feel its easier to get around...however, getting out off bed is still painful. Saw the incision last night for the first time! It is so long, hip to hip, but it looks neat, which is the good part, PS says I'm healing well...keep on the high protein diet he says...i think I've had enough of chicken for a while. I can take a bath now, after applying a thick layer of some waterproofing ointment, i can get into that shower, my DH is going to help me later tonight. I haven't seen the BB in detail as yet...its covered under dressings for now...Pain is there, but is more of a dull burn, and am coping without any pain meds.
Looks like I've exhausted all the space allowed here! What I will do, is continue my journal with each picture I add on from now. Thanks for the comments and compliments, and for taking the journey with me :) I'll post pics weekly! Stay tuned :D
