My Personal Statement:
Hello all, I'm Renee! I lead a fun, ever changing career in promotional marketing. This field is very appearance conscious so my looks are important and can dictate the quality of work I receive. I had wanted to have a few procedures, mainly a tummy tuck & lipo after the birth of my son. We finally got the funds to make it happen in 07. I was scared senseless but refused to give into my fears. On the 12th day of the last month of the year I realized a dream come true! With all the research I did prior to surgery nothing prepared me for the ordeal after the surgery. I never read any comments on the severe discomfort in coughing, passing gas/bowel movements and sitting on the toilet yet it was a huge deal for me for several months after surgery. I had so many regrets in the beginning because I just had no idea that my body would respond the way it did to such trauma, after all I told myself your in good shape, you eat right, you'll snap right back. NOT!! Not only was I swollen in the areas of incision but many surrounding areas that were not cut on. I didn't have a lot of fat to be removed so the amount taken was minimal, 10 cc's total. I ask to see the excess skin removed after surgery but was so doped up I can barely remember but I do recall saying to myself, WOOOW, that's my skin! It looked fake, like the stuff you see on television. It was hard to believe a peice of me had been removed.

I took GREAT care of my incisions. As a matter of fact I am still taking care of them. I constantly keep pressure on the incision area to make sure the scars heal flat because I started to see the onset of hypertrophic scarring at both ends of the incision and a small area to the far right side about 1/8 of an inch wide. Because of my persistence I was able to encourage proper healing. The ends of the incision healed completely flat after all and the other area 1/8in wide is still EVER so slightly raised but is reversing itself each week - something else I didn't know was possible which I learned through trail and error. I predict with another 2 months of persistent pressure this area too will be completely flat.

I can now say, 11 months later that I am elated with my results! There are some lipo areas that could have had a little more fat removed but I count myself blessed because my overall appearance changed for the better and I was not maimed or harmed during the procedure. I am so much more comfortable wearing certain clothing now. I don't have to constantly monitor my shirt to make sure my excess belly skin isn't exposed or showing through. I can now see the six pack I always knew was there. Now that's the most exciting part! My self esteem which was already great shot up tremendously!

I would strongly advise you to investigate your doctor long and hard and ask difficulty questions, after all it is your life and body at stake! I did and I am pleased with the outcome from diligence and most of all blessings. I hope something you read was enlightening and of benefit. I also hope I have been an inspiration to someone. Thanks for reading my blog!

First, congratulations becuase you look great!

I just had a tummy tuck procedure and I still have not had my stitches removed.

Would you suggest the manuka honey along with the shea butter and Vitamin E oilfirst after the stitches are removed or would you use the silicone strip and kelocate gel?

And for how long and at what points in the healing would you use each?

Thanks in advance for answering my questions.

I lost some s.m's on the tummy naturally but the others still remain. I'm still looking for the right procedure for the s.m.'s. Those abs were always there; they just needed that damn extra meat to be removed. I did 300 abdominal reps per work-out session before the surgery and I haven't changed my ab routine nor my eating regime (I healthy before & still continue to do so). The only thing different is the surgery. I used Manuka Honey on the scar immediately after the surgery as well as pure Shea Butter & pure Vitamin E oil. Because of the frequent daily use of products I changed my bandages at least twice a day and kept the scar firmly compresses for the 7 months. I also purchased an Australian healing rock & added underneath my bandages once the incision healed. I still use the rock. Lastly I purchased a silicone scar sheet 3 months ago & used it frequently. Each item played a significant role in my healing & satisfaction in my overall results.

You look great by the way!

I noticed that you still had some stretch marks left after your procedure, but in the end I don't see any. Did you use anything special on them? What? What did you use on your scar? How did you end with those abs? What exercise routines?
