To answer the common question: why? People have been doing body modification since the beginning of time: foot binding, neck rings, warrior tattoos and scarification came before plastic surgery. Why does anyone have any elective cosmetic surgery? Why do some women get a breast reduction when some men like ginormous breasts? To feel better physically and sometimes cosmetically. A labiaplasty should have no different standard than any other cosmetic procedure and to think otherwise is, in fact, backwards and sexist.

I had this procedure done because I didn't like to do a 'tuck job' every morning and time I went to the bathroom, and so I wouldn't have to re-adjust myself throughout the day. Also, after sex sometimes my labia would get so swollen that it was impossible to sleep comfortably for an hour or so and I need to fall asleep before the hubby's snoring starts if you know what I mean. :)

I will update about any enhancement to or lack of sensation once my healing completes.

My Pre-surgery checklist:

Benedryl (for itching)
Dermoplast (with the red top)
bag for ice (mine was provided by my doc)
water bottle with top that sprays up for washing yourself with warm water after using the restroom (mine was provided by my doc)
magazines to read
books to read
movies to watch

Also, I found my hand sprayjet in my shower was very useful and felt soothing so if you don't have one of those, I would buy one that attaches somewhere to whatever kind of shower that you have.

prescriptions:
Vicodin (ended up only taking 2)
Antibiotic to take before surgery
Estrace cream (starting 3 days after surgery for 3x/week, depends on doc whether or not prescribed, supposed to help in healing)

Stayed off my feet as much as possible for the first 2 days, but the longer the better.
